Skimmia Japonica



De Skimmia japonica is up to 1 meter high , winterhardy
little shrub , it flowers during wintertime.
The flowers produce a nice freagrance in spring.



Male and Female

One need one male plant on every seven female Skimmia's.
Otherwise the females won't produces the colored berries
in fall.



Skimmia japonica "Rubella"


The most important cultivar is the Skimmia japonica "Rubella",
Its a marvelous red flowering plant , often used on graves.













    The Skimmia japonica "Rubella" keeps it flowers during the
    whole winter.




    De Skimmia japonica "Rubella" is very winterhardy.







    De Skimmia reevesiana of Skimmia japonica "Fortunei" flowers with
    bright white flowers at the start of the summer.






    The yellow and red berries of the Skimmia reevesiana.
    This Skimmia is not really winterhardy.
