Common houseleek, Sempervivum tectorum

A perrinial succulent that grows on old walls and on roofs.
It forms tufts of rosettes. It has a special way of
propagation: hen and chicks. The 'hen' is the main plant,
and the 'chicks' are the offspring.

These succulents are able to resist heath and cold and
long periods of dreight.



Sempervivum tectorum can be used on roofs and graves
and of course in youre garden.

    Sempervivum and sedum is often used on the green roof,
    especially in the extensive green roof, with a minimum of
    maintance.
    A green roof enhances the isolation of youre house
    and makes a beautiful sight. A green roof consists of
    some layers: The upperlayer consist of sempervivum or
    sedum vegetation mostly combined. The next layer is made
    poor ground, and below that layer a layer of plastic
    to prevent the ingrow of roots.
    A greenroof weights about 150kg/square meter.
