Maidenhair spleenwort

Grows between calcareous rocks like limestone
and on old walls, not very common
in Belgium and rare in the netherlands.

The maidenhair spleenwort uses little space and
its roots hold it firm against a wall. It prefer
chalcky undergrounds, like limestone.

There are a few spore cases on undersides of leaflets.
Ripe spore cases (sori) are red colored.
Whenn the spore are not ripe they are covered
with a veil (indusium), that rippens and releases
the spores, spreadby the wind.
This happens during summertime.
