Canadian serviceberry or Shadblow

The leaves stay green in fall,
unlike the Snowy mespilus or Amelanchier lamarckii

As said, they can be eaten and they taste sweet
If you pick then you quickly dry them, they can
be stored and used for years.
Those fruits are used in jelly, pancakes, etc.
as a replacement for sugar.
confusing of appearance
This tree is easely confused with the Common
serviceberry. In fall, the common serviceberry
has nice red leaves, but the canadian serviceberry
doesn't change of color. Also , the the Common
serviceberry has larger flower and is far more
populair.
