Norway maple or acer plantanoides



The Norway mapple is an fast growing medium
high tree, This strong tree is mainly planted
as an ornamental tree, but also provides
good timber. The norway maple will grow
on very poor ground, but is sensitiv for salt.
In fall it will color yellow, but there are a
lot of cultivars with beautiful deep red colors.




The seeds of the Norway maple

The seeds of the Norway mapple are spread by
the wind. A storm in fall can take those
seeds miles away. By turning around they are
propelled up to 1 mile high in the air.

The Norway maple is a reasonable street tree,

Acer platanoides 'Cleveland' is a cultivar
which remains smaller (10 meter) is used as
a street tree.
