Jelly ear


Jew's ears
Jelly ears is a strangely formed fungus, and they grow
almost only on the branches of Elder or Elderberry.
They will also grow on Birch and European Spindle.
The form of this fungus often looks like an
ear. It can be found on Elder throughout the year,
but mostly during fall. In januari new Jelly ears appear.
Jelly ears are edible but have little taste.

Jews ear's belong to the group of Tremallales:
small and sticky fungi.

    Directly after a rain, Jelly ear
    feels and looks different:
    The fungus feels rubbery, elastic and
    is a bit shiney. Older Jelly ears become black.
    On can find Jew's ear the whole year.
