The sweet flag
This is perrennial marsh waterplant that resembles
the Iris or Yellow flag but belongs to acorus waterplants
The Sweet flag only grows in swallow water, in a deep
pond the rhizome will start to decay.
The most important way of spreading is by its long rhizomes.
The leves will grow one meter long and have a white
stripe in the middle. The sweet flag needs a lot of sun.
Flowering
The flowering period is in the mid of the summer, and
is not spectaculair: a yellow cone appears next to the leaves.
The Variegated Sweet flag in february , the pink fresh leaves and the
rhizomes can be seen.
