The Cherryplum is a small tree with nice fruits.
This tree will grow on dry and poor ground, and is
used as an ornamental tree in a park but
remains small enough to be used in a garden.

The fruit have an nice taste, but the
birds love them also. The fruits are used
in jam, called mirabellejam.


The cultivars of the Cherry plum


There is an endless amount of cultivars of the
cherry plum. The most well-known is the Prunus
cerasifera 'nigra', Purple Leaved Flowering Plum.


Purple Leaved Flowering Plum


A small deciduos tree that starts with dark-red
leaves in spring changing into deep
purple foliage in the summer. It is a fast
growing tree, very well suited for small gardens.

1,5 kilo of ripe mirabelles =
1 kilo of mirabelles with no stone,
1 kilo sugar
optional 1 citron)

Wash and dry the fresh mirabelles. Cut them in half
and remove the stones, place in a preserving or
large saucepan. Cut the mirabelles is small pieces.
Add the sugar and cook for 4 minutes, stir!. PZut this boiling mixture in 4 hot clean jars,
and put those jars upside down , finito!
