After leaving the egg the young salamanders swimm around.
They feed on the tiny animals that live on the leaves and stems
of waterplants. The most important group are the infusoria.

The gulls will become smaller during the metamorfosis, about 10% of the
oxygen is delivered through the skin itself.



There are two pairs of gulls providing the oxygen.

Young salamanders are partly transparant, one can see the bloodvessel in
the frntleg with for toes.
