European Barberry



A strong and thorny shrub that can be found on poor, sandy
grounds. this shrub is winterhardy and can be found in
gardens. Cats hate this shrub for its long thorns.

The European Barberry flowers with yellow flowers on the end of the spring.

There are very many cultivars , most of them with red leaves.




The long thorns can be found on the underside of the shrub.

barberry jam



Barberry jam is an very delicious jam made of the ripe red berries
of the barberry. use the traditional recipe for producing jam.
Do not use the unripe berries.

dried barberries



Dried barberries play an important role in the
traitional Iranian kitchen, they add a very sour taste
to some irnian dishes. The Dried berries are mixed
with pilav rice.
