Summer Snowflake

This plant has been naturalized in man parts of Europe
and is a popular ornamental plant in gardens.

The summer Snowflake will grow on shadowy places.
These bulbs are very winterhardy. The Snowflake flowers in
springtime (not in summer), mostly together with daffodils.
The leaves are slightly poisionous.

The amount of galanthamine can vary sharply between
different bulbs.




The Summer Snowflake has green spots, pointing honeybees
the way to the honey.














    Snowdrops and Snowflakes

    Galanthus is a family of flowering plants
    consisting of Galanthus (snowdrops) and
    Leucojum (snowflakes). They flower very early
    in spring and have lovely white, bell-shaped
    flowers. they derive there name from
    the white color of there flowers and there
    habit to flower between ice and snow.
    All Galanthus is very poisionous.
