A common fly that resembles a wasp. The Hooverfly can
be found early in spring and hunts for nectar in flowers.

A Hooverfly has one pair of wings , the wasp has two pairs.
Also , the hoover fly has large (facet)eyes, the wasp hasn't.
The hooverfly hoovers in the air and the wasp goes directly
into the flower.
It's hard to find a hooverfly resting on a leave as they
normally hoover through the air without resting.
At the end of the winter the Blackthorn flowers with bright white
flowers, that are visited by hoverflies (Syrphus ). Bees and wasps are
inactiv at that time of the year as its to cold, but hoverflies take care
