Pteroeides griseum or Grey sea feather

This a sea pen that can be found in course sand at a depth of 20 meters in in the golf of Biskaye and mediterranean sea, but also in the Indian ocean.

Sea-pens or Pennatulacea

These are animals that belong to the group of feather corols. The feather corals collect food by collecting plancton. The feather corals react on any small disturbance by retracting there tentacles. The long foot adhere's itself in the bottom of the sea, it dugs itself into the sand ground. Sea-pens are difficult and exspensiv to kept alive in any aquarium as they only feed on living plankton. Even small fish makes them disturbed and they retract there feathers. Together with the seawips and gorgonians they form the grouyp of the soft corals, mostly called octocorals.

Cnidaria or flower animals

This is al group of animals that come in very different forms. They all have stinging cells. They also have only one have cavity called the stomach. There mouth also functions as an anus. Most of the Cnidaria form a scelet. This is sometimes sometimes a hard scelet, like the corals and gorgonians, oe a soft, like the Sea pen.
