| I would like to ask Bert. I understood that country coefficients appear to be calculated merely by truncation of smaller digits. And what with club coefficients? Let's take for example your 2004 rating table and Spain in it. Season 00/01: 16,611 * 0,33 = 5,48163, in your table: 5,481. Season 03/04: 14,312 * 0,33 = 4,72296, in your table: 4,723. So in the first case you truncate while in the second you round-up. Can you clear it? I'm sorry to bother you with such insignificant question but it really matters for me. |

| Ase,
For rounding of team rankings neither the usual truncate nor the usual rounding is used. The reason for this behaviour is that UEFA doesn't use one of these two methods consistently. Until last year I was able to reproduce the UEFA rankings with the following method: "add 0.00025 before truncate", or in other words "truncate below a remainder of 0.00075, else round up".
This method is still being applied. Despite the fact that this method (nor any other known method) is not able to reproduce the UEFA team rankings of 2004 exactly. In case you want all the details, see forum discussion on UEFA roundings. But, beware of Duncan's worms |

| Thx, Bert. Some month ago I was trying to find the topic where you mentioned Bode-Titius law. Forgot to add your link to Favorites, and forgot the names of the mathematicians Bode and Titius.
As far as I can see, that law was the only interesting info on that topic. The essence, so to say. And no, I have still not checked up on Johanssons shoe size. |
