| As long as Jersey doesn't get an independent country they can't join UEFA and FIFA any more. Gibraltar still applied when the old rules were in effect, so they could still join as non-independent country. |

What did Spain or Liechtenstein achieve last night ? |

| Spain made a good GD yesterday. The other countries have to see if they can also win with these numbers against Liechtenstein. |

Edited by: Judio1999 at: 07-09-2016, 14:16 | But when it comes down to second place
Don't they drop the results against the bottom team ?
Or is that different this time as all Groups have six teams |

| Results against 6th placed teams are NOT counted for the runners-up ranking, even now all groups have 6 teams. I think that is still a good thing as 6th ranked teams are quite unbalanced. Having Andorra, Gibraltar or San Marino in your group gives a big advantage over other runners-up that have teams like Kosovo, Georgia or Kazakhstan. |

| Is't there an exeption of that rule that it does not aplly for the united kingdom? If so, Jersey might slip throuh thaat hole into UEFA/FIFA. |

| Why should they UK be an exception on this rule? |

| Because they are rthe founderes of soccer? .
Article 69 of the UEFA rules declares Article 5 of the UEFA rule invalid for England, Wales, Scotland, N. Ireland, the Faroer Islands, and now Gibraltar.
According to the principle of egual rights, i see little reason to deny Jersey, waht was granted to Gibraltar. |

| Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory (i.e. it is under the jurisdiction and sovereignty of the United Kingdom). Jersey is a Crown dependency of the United Kingdom (i.e. it is an independently administered jurisdiction and it is not part of the United Kingdom). Therefore there are differences between the Gibraltar and Jersey case and what applies to one does not necessarily apply to the other one (imo). |

| But both are not fully independent countries. And that is what counts to become a member now. Gibraltar already applied before this rule was in place so they are "lucky". Jersey and any other non-independent country are "unlucky". |

| If Jersey becomes a member then there is nothing to stop Guernsey becoming a member or the Isle of Man |

| Actually technically Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of man are ore Independent than Gibtalter. Gibralter got to vote in the EU referendum the other three didnt. Its going to be interesting though as it leaves the door open for a few other territories to join. |

| I do not get why these territories want to become independent members of UEFA... They should first make sure they have competitive clubs and then try to join. Kosovo comes to mind: They joined in 2016; 0-0-4 since then... By the way ex-Chelsea player Graeme Le Saux is from Jersey. |

| How can their clubs become competitive, if they can't play international matches? They won't get any better just playing in their own league which doesn't get support by UEFA. |

| Good morning members! Another beautiful weekend here! Why did other UEFA members not start with 0-0-4?? They first played a lot of friendlies against competitive clubs, saw what level they were at and then joined UEFA! |

| If Jersey joins there is no reason that Guernsey cant join. In fact it has a slightly better record at the island games than Jersey. I have been to both Guernsey and Jersey and they are lovely places especially Guernsey.
The Isle of Man is totaly self governing as well. Britain only looks after its defence and in international institutions. Its the closest "country" to Ireland. Have been there as well and its interesting. I cant see any reason why if Jersey joins why it cant.
Guernsey is not just one island but also includes Alderney, Herm and Sark. |
