| Are there only two battles (Switzerland vs Greece for 12th and Romania vs Czech Republic for 15th) or do you see more realistic shifts in these settings (countries in groups in alphabetical order)?
1-3: England, Germany & Spain
4-6: France, Italy & Portugal
7-12: Belgium, Netherlands, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine & Greece or Switzerland
13-15: Greece or Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic or Romania |

| The number of berth for each position on the ranking are not known yet (for sure), so it is difficult to say which countries battle for what.
Only indication we got is that the maximum number of EL-berths will be 3, so that could mean countries ranked 7-9 lose 1 berth. But if that is completely true and which other positions get another number of berths then now is just guessing |

Edited by: Friesland at: 28-11-2013, 17:25 | The records of the Dutch professional football meeting of 4 June was published on the Dutch FA website earlier this week.
Two changes in the access list are mentioned: 1) countries 7-9 indeed lose their sixth spot (fourth EL spot). 2) countries 14 and 15 lose their fifth spot (second CL spot).
The records don't literally say that countries 14 and 15 lose their second CL spot, it says: "If the Netherlands would drop to, for example, place 14 they will also lose their second CL spot."
But there is also a mistake on how the coefficient is calculated. So, the country 14 and 15 losing their second CL spot, might be an error as well, since I haven't heard about it before. |

| Thanks Fora-AZ & Friesland for the very supportive replay!
However, I double-checked fact at uefa.org and found these useful articles (http://tinyurl.com/jw53zzl & http://tinyurl.com/n3ehpfj). Further I found these two beneficial articles on en.wiki for format changes in CL (http://tinyurl.com/n2tofnx) and EL (http://tinyurl.com/o9rwyya) from 2015/16 to 2018/19 cycle.
Here a compilation of planned major changes for Top 15 associations for 2015/16 until 2018/19 season:
CL: • EL TH of previous season will compete in play off (= 4rd qualification), if they do not qualify for CL through domestic championship. If this is the case, the current limit of a maximum four teams per association will be increased to five (I didn’t find a piece if same goes for CL TH of previous season). • According to en.wiki associations 7-15 will have two teams in play.
EL:
• Associations 7-9 will lose one EL spot as all associations maximum will be three teams. • The number of teams directly qualifying for the group stage will be increased to 16 teams from the top 12 associations (compared with the current six teams from the top six associations) • Best-placed non-qualified domestic championship club should enter EL rather than the domestic cup runners-up, should the domestic cup winners also qualify for EL via the final championship standings.
To conclude: Right now, I don’t see any need to update the opener. Correct? |
