| Consider this: Chelsea wins the UCL, but does not qualify via their domestic competitions for the next UCL or EL. The EL winner also does not qualify for these 2 competitions the subsequent year. Does that imply that there are 8 automatic places in the EL group stages? -the 8 of them being the cup winners of countries 1-6 , EL winner and Englands fourth placed team. |

| No, English 4th placed team will have to start in EL-Q4 then.
It is mentioned in the regulations that in such a case the 4th placed team will get a spot in the EL in the latest possible round where a vacancy is available. That can either be in the EL-GS or EL-Q4 depending on who wins the EL. |

| So would that affect England's N5 and League Cup winners? Or would that leading to pushing country 9's N3 (C09N3) from ELQ4 to ELQ3, C15N3 from ELQ3 to ELQ2 and, C26N2 and C27N2 from ELQ2 to ELQ1 to maintain the parity in the rounds? |

| The rule says that such a team goes into 'the latest possible round with a vacancy.' Taken literally there is no vacancy in ELQ4 as well, but as N4 should be placed better than N5, N4 should be placed in ELQ4. What about the rest of the teams? |

Edited by: Forza-AZ at: 17-11-2013, 17:14 | There is always a vacancy in EL-Q4, since in this case England will have 4 teams in CL-GS and none in CL-Q4, so there is a vacancy in CL-Q4 (non champions), which is filled by moving up 2 teams from CL-Q3 (non champions). That leads to 1 less match in CL-Q3 and so 1 less CL-Q3 loser will enter EL-Q4. This is exactly what happened last season when Chelsea won the CL and Tottenham had to play EL. They got a EL-GS spot since there was a vacancy in EL-GS due to the EL-winner already qualifying for EL-GS via their league and due to Chelsea having qualified for EL-GS by winning the English Cup. |

| @forza That looks right! I completely forgot about the carry over of teams from UCL to EL. |
