Topic has beed archived, so here the current standings :
14. Austria 27.525
15. Czechs 26.600 -0.925
16. Romania 26.507 -1,018

So Austria collected more points every single MD in the Group stages and should end up 14th, with Salzburg heading to spring.

The Czechs are favourites for me to stay 15th, as Liberec is in a much better position than Panduri while Pilsen and Steaua are both highly in danger to finish 4th. Maybe here is Pilsen in advantage, too, although they have zero points. A home win vs. Moscow (except 3:2 4:3 5:4 etc.) might be enough if CSKA is losing in Manchester and vs. Bayern.

If both Czechs team make it to spring, than Austria might get in trouble, but that's a lot ifs, so let's see what happens.

Czech Republic won't fall below 15th. Steaua will make 1, maybe 2 pts in the last 3 games, while Pandurii could make 2 pts. Slovan Liberec and Viktoria Plzen will make at least this amount.

Too bad. We won't get another chance like this for a long time

As a said before the group stage, Salzburg will collect many points for Austria. Would be nice, if they repeat the six-winnig-games-streak from four years ago.

I hope Rapid will at least beat Genk and Thun at home to boost their coefficient. In Belgium they played quite good.

Austria Wien has done so far more than expected. However, a deciding match for the EL-spot against Zenit St. Petersburg at the last matchday would be great.

It is just a pitty, that we played such a poor last season, otherwise the top-13 would be very realistic. But on the other hand, who knows if Salzburg would have made such great signings, if they had not failed against Dudelange?

I disagree.Plzen 3 games left -Bayern,Man City and CSKA (away)so here 0 points for sure
Steaua can get some points in Basel and home against Shalke
Pandurii aswell .2 home games against Fiorentina-2 and Pacos .at least 4 points in this two
Liberec- against Sevilla and Fraiburg.hard anyway to get more than one point.
So,i believe Romania is still favourite to finish on 15

About the sentence I put in bold: why do you think so?
Next year Austria will discard a 9.375 season.
This season:
14 Austria 9.375 4.375 7.125 2.250 4.400 27.525 (3/5)
15 Czech R 4.100 3.500 5.250 8.500 5.250 26.600 (2/4)
16 Romania 6.083 3.166 4.333 6.800 6.125 26.507 (2/4)

Next season:
10 Belgium 4.600 10.100 6.500 4.200 0.000 25.400 +4.976
11 Switz'd 5.900 6.000 8.375 4.400 0.000 24.675 +4.251
12 Turkey 4.600 5.100 10.200 4.100 0.000 24.000 +3.576
13 Greece 7.600 7.600 4.400 3.100 0.000 22.700 +2.276
14 Czech R 3.500 5.250 8.500 5.250 0.000 22.500 +2.076
15 Romania 3.166 4.333 6.800 6.125 0.000 20.424 +0.000
16 Cyprus 3.125 9.125 4.000 2.000 0.000 18.250 -2.174
17 Austria 4.375 7.125 2.250 4.400 0.000 18.150 -2.274
18 Israel 4.625 6.000 3.250 3.500 0.000 17.375 -3.049

We are talking about grabbing the 15th place correct?
Why do you think Romania won't be fighting for the same rank position in the next season?
Just wondering: there is something that I missed?

Cheers!

paul7: Steaua can get some points in Basel and home against Shalke

That's what I've said in my post: 1 (draw at home vs Schalke), maybe 2 (draw away at Basel), but both are questionable.

paul7: Pandurii aswell .2 home games against Fiorentina-2 and Pacos .at least 4 points in this two

You do realize that, in the coefficient ranking, 4 pts mean 2 wins, right? And 1 win & 1 draw = 3 pts? Personally I don't see Pandurii defeating Fiorentina, unless they really, REALLY don't care about EL and show up with the U17 team. If Borja Valero and Joaquin will be on pitch, we can kiss even the draw good bye. Yes, I am perfectly aware that Pandurii played fantastic in the first 20 min; unfortunately games last 90 min. And I don't want to remember how they "played" afterwards.

paul7: Liberec- against Sevilla and Fraiburg.hard anyway to get more than one point.

They also have away at Estoril. I see them making 2-3 pts (2 draws or 1 win and 1 draw). Freiburg are not so tough, Slovan already got a draw away at them. And I see Vikoria getting a draw at home vs CSKA Moscow; they almost got one in Moscow.

paul7: So,i believe Romania is still favourite to finish on 15

After what I've said, I doubt there anyone but you who thinks that.

@nemesys

Yeah, I didn't check in detail the ranking of 2015, I thought we were gonna fall a lot after dropping such a good season. Still, we'll most likely have the same teams in Europe next season and I feel we were really lucky this time. Sure, the 3 newbies will improve and they got experience, but I feel they will be treated more seriously or the draw will be really ugly for us. Personally, I can see Austria closing that gap. And there's no way we'll catch the Czechs.

This season seems like Liberec will decide the battle for 15th. Freiburg is to weak or they have to concentrate on BL, where they are 17th place. It looks very good for Liberec to qualify for KO-stage and till then they will grab some points which will be decisive. Steaua not winning at home vs Tblisi or geting the equalizer in Warsaw in the 90th, or Astra missing to win at home vs Trencin - that lost points could have been also decisive...

Ranking 2015 is looking better for Romania. They could defend the 15th only with the points from qR - we start again with 4 and earlier than our contenders. I think only Salzburg will not be enough for Austria to close the gap - taking also in account that they will probaly reach CLGS next year and then wouldnt be a walk in park, like they do it now in ELGS

To be honest getting 15th place is not a good achievement in the future for Romania. This will mean 1 year in plus to split points to 5 instead of 4. We dont have 5 teams capable to be decent in Europe, there are some chances that we will dont have 4 decent teams (Petrolul is in some uncertain situation because they are financed exclusive by the authorithies of their city, and the money can be stopped at any time).
The big thing for Romania is to go in 1-2 years directly from 16-17 to 12-13place to have a direct CLGS place .

We will have more chances to get this direct spot with a 4 team year instead of 5.

Interesting tactics bossake :-)

But one never know, maybe the best performing team comes from the 5th qualifying place, look at, for example, Turkey or Norway this year, without their fith starter they would have had a (much) worse coeff.

And don't you want to see as much teams as possible from cour country ?

Of course I want more teams from our country to be involved in european cups, but the situation in this period in romanian championship is disastrous. Rapid Buc is relegated in 2nd division, Dinamo Buc because of their very small budget they have a lot youngsters and cheap players and will finish about 6-8place, Vaslui owner is investig about 30% of how much he invested in past 2-3 years, Otelul money from Champions League dissapeared and they now are a poor club, Cfr Cluj even they win a lot of money last season they sold their stars(actually about 15 players left) and in this summer bringed some unknown players(10-12 new players) and are in real danger to be out this year too from Europe (they are already out from cup and 6 points behind last european place).

And the perspectives are more badly ,because this is the last year when we have a ~30 mil Eur per year tv rights contract. For sure the new contract will be much lower so this means fewer money for the clubs. Most of romanian clubs budget is 80%based on the money who came from tv rights.

Anyway romanian club results are incredibile considering the financial conditions of our league. I think I sayed this before but in my opinion romanian club results have the best raport money spent/results from entire europe.

If Romania will grab 15th next season, they will have 5 teams season 2016/17. Until then, the situation can change a lot. We will start 2 other seasons with 4 teams and make some points. I dont think Romania depends on CFR, Vaslui, etc. The newbies did it pretty well and they will encrease their coefficient if they play like that, so that nobody will miss Dinamo, CFR or Vaslui (actualy its their coeff why we miss them, to be seeded in qR)

15 Czech Republic 26.850
16 Romania 26.757

Steaua is equalized in the 90th yesterday, Pandurii lead 1-0 until 85th and lose in the last minute, Liberec get a draw at Sevilla
tenths which Romania will miss at end...

14)Austria 29.125
15)Romania 27.007
16)Czech Republic 26.850
17)Israel 25.625

Everything is still open! It is very unlikely Austria will lose the 14th place, because they have more than 2 points lead over Romania, and their main advantage is having Salzburg in the next round as First placed, so they can go even higher. Rapid wien can also still qualify (probably not, but not totally refuted (need an away win on Dynamo Kiev).
However, for the 15th place, things couldnt have been closer.

Czechs are the favourits. They have Liberec with an avrage chance of qualifying (need to get more points at Guimaraes than Freiburg hosting Sevilla), and don't forget Viktoria plzen who can snatch the CL third place by winning CSKA at home.

Romanian journey ends here. Steaua and Pandurii will both finish last in their groups. The maximum I can give them is another 0.5 point for a home victory for Pandurii against Pacos.

Israel, suprisingly, are still in the race. Maccabi tel aviv have qualification 99% guaranteed. If no Czech team will qualify, Israel have a some chance of snatching the 15th place. A Maccabi Haifa home win against Kargandy and a Maccabi tel aviv home win against irrelevant Bordeaux, will leave them less than a point behind. So if Maccabi tel aviv will qualify for last 16, it will probably be enough.(not so unlikely, they are very strong this year).

While there is always a slim chance as long it’s not hypothetical impossible, IMO it’s not in the hand of Israel to compete for 15th place and this is why:

As Romania (2013/14: 26 ? points up to now/ 4 teams) currently holds 15th place, the bar to beat is at least 27.007 points. A home win of Pandurii will boost the bar to 27.507 points.

This should be manageable for Czech Republic (2013/14: 22 points up to now/ 4 teams) because a win of Victoria Plzen (if so, most likely 3rd place in CL-group D) and a tie of Slovan Liberec will materialize in a 27,600 total.

What has Israel to do to bypass Czech Republic?
Hope that Victoria Plzen will not advance into knock-out phase of EL. If so, neither they nor Slovan Liberec will score for their nation in this stage.
On the other hand Israel (2013/14: 18 points up to now/ 4 teams) needs two wins on matchday six of group phase in order to accumulate 26.625 points at year end and Maccabi Tel Aviv (2nd place in EL-Group F) has to be promoted into R16 of EL (= has to eliminate either a EL group winner or one out of four best 3rd place teams of CL.

Well, my prediction wasn't so unreasonable after all. Israel did got their two home irrelevant wins in matchday 6 (Maccabi Haifa won Karagandy, and Maccabi tel Aviv won Bordeaux (who came without 10 lineup players and with only 4 field players on the bench) , and Pandurii didn't even get the home win I gave them aganist Pacos.

If only one Czech team would have qualified , the race would still be open, with less than a point margin between Israel and the Czechs, and one team left for each country. Than it would have been depending on the draw.

However, due to a massive success of Czech teams-Liberec and Plzen (two crucial wins and two teams in next round) which allowed them to bypass Romania and create a large margin over Israel, the race is probably over and the Czechs are the winners! (along with Austria of course)

See you in 14/15 battle next year

P.S Czech teams can go even higher in next seasons. Their next two seasons to be erased are relativly low-ranked (relative to other countries in this area of ranking), so get used to see Viktoria Plzen in the Champions league..
