| The 2014/15 club competitions access list was approved. Consequently, one spot will be granted in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League to teams from Gibraltar, UEFA's newest member association. The dates for the 2014 UEFA Super Cup (Cardiff Stadium) and the 2013-15 UEFA European Under-21 Championship final tournament (Czech Republic) were also confirmed, with matches taking place on Tuesday 12 August 2014, and from 17 to 30 June 2015 respectively.

| In other important news, UEFA got rid of cup finalists:
"In response to another request by the member associations, the UEFA Executive Committee agreed that the UEFA Club Competitions Committee should make the necessary regulatory changes to allow the best-placed non-qualified domestic championship club to enter the UEFA Europa League from the 2015/16 season, rather than the domestic cup runners-up, should the domestic cup-winners also qualify for the UEFA Champions League via the final championship standings." |

And can you give a link for that news about the losing Cup finalists. I can't find it anywhere.
Edit: Found it here |

| Does anybody know the reason why the Super Cup match has been moved 2.5 weeks earlier than currently? Does that mean there is also a plan for the CL/EL qualifying rounds to finish earlier so the group draws can be made then? |

To allow. Does that mean they will leave it to the national FAs to make their choice which team to send?
And yes, I had the same question as MartinW on the rather strange date for the Super Cup. Tuesday August 12 isn't that the week reserved for friendlies of national teams? |

| Super cup will be played before play off matches I believe.all because EL winner will get the place in Champions league group stage.so,there is no chance this team can play champions league play off. |

This year is the last year that the August friendly date takes place. From after the world cup, all international matches are paired (March, June, September, October and November) for a total of 10 a year compared 12 at the moment. Here is the FIFA match calender to 2018.
So, the August 12 date is the midweek between QR3L2 and QR4L1. They have done this to prevent a clash if the EL winner plays in CL or EL QR4.
EDIT: Found this from June 2012.
"The Executive Committee also agreed a new date for the UEFA Super Cup. As from 2014 it will take place in mid-August pending ratification of the new international match calendar by FIFA (as of 2014)." |

| @MartinW
European Supercup has been moved forward because an opening was created after the August national team matches are removed.
This way the Supercup won't clash with domestic league matches any more. It was already decided before it was known that the EL-winner got a CL-spot from 2015, so that wasn't the reason. |

These are just technical words. The regulations now say the losing Cup finalist will play. So in order to change that and give the spot to the best team in the league, the regulations have to be changed.
So that is why they say that in order to allow the best team from the league in stead of the losing Cup finalist the regulations will be adapted. So it will still be the same for all UEFA-members. No room for the national FA's to make a choise. |

| I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, but according to the portuguese FA, UEFA has also confirmed that between 2015 and 2018 the winner of Europa League will gain entry to the UEFA Champions League the following year - in the play-off or, if the winner of the Champions League was qualified directly through its national championship, in the group stage.
With this change, adds the news in the portuguese FA site, the maximum number of teams that a country can have in the Champions League will be five instead of four.
Furthermore, each federation will have initially (I suppose the exception is the teams that drop from CL) a maximum of three teams in the EL. 16 teams, from the 12 top associations, will have direct access to the group stage.
Can anybody find the new access list?

| I wonder if rather than determining the whole list, they just determined Gibraltar's allocation from looking at this:

Champion of Switzerland will play straight in the group stage or is going to start in qualification because of Gibraltar.anyone knows ? |

Edited by: Forza-AZ at: 27-09-2013, 19:10 | Gibraltar gets 1 spot in CL-Q1 and 1 in EL-Q1, so that means 1 extra team has to be eliminated in Q1 in both CL and EL. Which will mean there will be 1 extra match in Q1. That extra match means 2 more teams will play in these rounds. 1 of these 2 is the Gibraltar team, the other is the team that was the last team that would otherwise start in Q2.
For 2014/15 that means country 47 (Northern Ireland)'s champion will start in CL-Q1 instead of CL-Q2, and country 32 (Azerbaijan)'s Cup winner will start in EL-Q1 instead of EL-Q2. This is the regular access list, so including a spot for the Title Holder. If there is no Title Holder teams will be moved up again like usual.
Adding the Gibraltar teams have no influence on teams starting in later rounds, so if the Swiss (country 13) champion starts in Q3 or GS will still depend on the Titel Holder. If they are qualified for CL-GS in their own country the Swiss champion will start in CL-GS. If not, then the Swiss champion starts in CL-Q3. |

| I agree with Forza, but I guess they might want to move down number 2 from association 27 (Norway) instead of the cupwinner of association 32 (Azerbaijan). |
