Two nations

So we all know what happened with Swansea (a Welsh team playing in both the English league system and League Cup) this season; all of their results are counted towards the English coefficient.
But what would happen with a team like FC Vaduz (Swiss league system and Liechtenstein cup) if they were to gain a Europa League spot in the Swiss league and also win the Liechtenstein cup the same season?

FC Vaduz can't represent Switzerland in Eurocups, even if they win the title. It was agreed when FC Vaduz joined the Swiss pyramid.

Swansea gave up their way to Europe from the Welsh Cup to play in the English pyramid. At first, they were told they can't represent England in Europe and they agreed, but when they gained an EL spot they started to cry "Discrimination" and everyone gave in to their request, just to shut them up.

I don't think Vaduz will gave up their Liechtenstein status.

The big difference is that Liechtenstein has no own league, so all clubs have to play league football in another country. But they can't qualify for CL/EL via that league.
Wales does have a league, so if Swansea wants to play the Welsh Cup they would also have to play in the Welsh league.

I'm ashamed to say (Because I am British) I totally missed the story of the this change for Welsh clubs. But I found a bit through Google and the BBC website.

In the more distant past, the Welsh clubs playing in the English league were not usually good enough for this to be a practical issue. But for sure, the (English) FA's rule was they could not play in Europ e i.e. represent England because they were Welsh.

In 2008 Cardiff were in the FA Cup final and an argument started about whether they would be allowed in Europe if they won. Before the (English) FA ruled on this, there was support in UEFA and talk of handing them a wild card if they won. Then the FA ruled it was OK, they could play as an English club. But they lost.

So presumably it was now OK for the Welsh exile clubs to play in Eurocups as English.

In 2011 the FA of WALES mounted an opposite challenge- they wanted the exile clubs to be allowed to qualify for Europe through the WELSH cup. UEFA said no, they would have had to play in the Welsh league also but repeated it was OK for them to qualify through the English system.

I didn't find anything about Swansea having to argue in the season just past that they were allowed to qualify at all for Europe through the English system. however, some fans are annoyed Swansea will be represented with an English flag on the appropriate documentation.

Basically Swansea Cardiff and the other4 are now regarded as English Clubs based in Wales and cannot represent us as they do not play in our Welsh system. Having seen Swansea as a Welsh club decided to watch their last round game at home as an English club and shown on my records as such. It was very noticeably at the ground of the lack of Welsh flags carried by supporters therefore it appears fans have been told that due to representing England it would not be looked on favourably by the English FA if Welsh flags were flown.
