Just from today's very few games, several nations have moved up and down.

Andorra are now level on points with San Marino at the bottom due to Lusitanos' draw, but ahead due to most recent season.

Sliema's draw sees Malta jump Lithuania into 42nd.

Azerbaijan move into 31st ahead of Georgia.

And Sweden take 23rd from Scotland.

Hi Lorric

I guess my question fits here as we'll as anywhere.

Do you have a view on the expected changes to the access list as a result of Gibraltar's acceptance from the 2014-15 season?

Main reason I'm asking is re the Champions League qualifiers. Does the change mean that teams from the bottom 6 countries will now enter in Q1... Interesting because that end of the ranking is usually sorted by the end of July.

Or are there broader changes to the structure of the competitions anyway?

Your advice gratefully received as always!

The access list for the first season Gibraltar participates (2014/15) is already determined by the 2013 rankings. So the bottom 5 of that ranking (Estonia, Armenia, Faroe, San Marino and Andorra) + Gibraltar will start in CL-Q1 for certain. Northern Ireland and Wales might also start in CL-Q1 if the CL-TH spot will be used.

The results of the matches played from this week on will determine the 2014 rankings and will be used for the 2015/16 season. However UEFA has anounced some changes for that season. How these will affect the access list isn't known yet.

Thanks Forza!

Yes sorry I meant for the 2015 season, but you've answered my question!

Interesting that results of the current month will (allowing for UEFA changes) change the access list for two years from now!

So, more position changes...

Romania take 17th from Cyprus.

Latvia jump Montenegro, Macedonia and the Republic of Ireland to take 37th.

Luxembourg take 45th from Albania, though the two are level on points.

Am i wrong to say that two victories for Luxembourgish teams in the same day was an unimaginable instance a few years ago? They're putting some supposed bigger countries in the bottom 20 of the rankings to shame.

Why did Norway get only 200 points instead of the usual 250 for Rosenborg's win? Or is that a mistake in the country ranking?

And why did Sweden get only 300 points for a draw and a win? Aren't those added up together worth more?

Sweden and Norway have fair-play-teams involved (Gefle and Tromsoe).
Thus their divider is 5.
Thus the points are correct.

As I spend my summers in Riga, good to see Latvian teams doing well after a few years of decline. It's been mostly downhill for them since Ventspils got to the Champs league playoff round in 2009/2010. Think I'll go to Levadia Tallinn vs Bala Town next week instead of Skonto vs Tiraspol.

One other thing, excellent website this is, but it would be good to have an icon on the country ranking showing movements of countries relative to the previous season, so that we can see at a glance what countries are moving up and down.

@magyarszurker

By the way it isn't 200 and 300 points, but 0,200 and 0,300.

As a german, I hope this becomes not realtity :-)
But I understand, that with Frankfurt and Freiburg the prediction isn't very good.
However, I hope we can compete for 1st place again in this season.
And maybe attack England on 2nd place.

Well,
for Ukraine 10 points for this year is a dream. Shakhtar is really weakened, without Willian it was bad already, and now Fernandinho, the best player and playmaker left as well{ I hope with ManCity he will get the title in Premier league this year. Instead just some mediocre players came{ I do not see them even champions in domestic league for upcoming season.
Dinamo improved a lot, but they were down too much last season and with Blochin as a coach, they will not be a danger for a big teams, but in EL they can get some points. Metallist slowly is getting the best team in Ukraine, but they probably will lack experience to get into CL groups, the only hope is a good draw and semioptimal form of their opponents, suspect that they will give up EL to get direct promotion to the CL groups next year. Dnipro has a greedy owner, so Ramos is playing with what he got and it is good to fight for the place in top three, but nothing special. So if you want to see a glorious matches, you should keep an eye on Metallist, I guess.
Overall I expect that domestic fight for the title will be more interesting than european campain for Ukrainian supporters in 2013/14

I doubt Swansea and Wigan could help England get so many points. It requires a huge success in the CL. (no group stage elimination for Manchester city this year)

I think you are too pessimistic regarding the chances of German teams. I can see why you expect them to finish below Spain and England, but behind Italy, France and Russia too?

You probably don't know this but the German EL teams did some surprisingly good signings this year and I expect the Cl teams to be quite succesful too (Dortmund will probably earn less points, but Schalke should do better).

England will attack again and the EPL teams have made some hugh profile signings. However I can't share your optimism towards the Spanish teams. Real and Barca signed some good players but you can see a decline of quality behind them, I don't expect Spain to gain more than 15 points this year.

Well, Spain has three good teams in CL that each should get them 20+ this season, plus Valencia playing in EL should also get close to the 20 mark. Last year they made 124 points, meaning the other three teams: La Real, Sevilla and Betis should get 20-25 points combined. Highly plausible, imo.

I`m not so pessimistic about Ukraine`s chances to improve their ranking. Although, I agree, Willian and Fernandinho will be a hard act to follow, I`m cautiously optimistic! They were both very talented players, but Shakhtar sold them for very good money. I`ve high hopes for Fernando, cannot be a mediocre player who were selected for Brazil. And being the top scorer in the Argentine league where Velez Sarsfield are a top team, makes me very hopeful that Facundo Ferreyra might be just the striker Shakhtar badly needed. And they want to buy one more player this summer.
Dynamo bought 3 very good players - Mbokani, Belhanda and Lens - and have a good chance to go very far in the EL.
I`m very glad for Metalist, they`ll have a good shot to reach the CL groupstage, but they need luck in the draw. I think they`d need some strengthening, especially up front. Dnipro always disappointed, but they`ve the potential. With a favourable draw even Metalurh Donetsk or Odessa might reach the EL groupstage, but I`m not sure about them, maybe I`m overly optimistic.
