Here's one I can't wait to see the highlights for, just read about it.

Scottish Cup Semi Final

AET4 Hibernian - Falkirk (2) 3

Falkirk were 3-0 up at 30mins. Hibernian fans left in droves at that point and at half time, when it was still 3-0. I wonder how they must feel, they didn't believe in their team. Must have been one hell of a team talk at half time by manager Pat Fenlon. Hibernian also missed a penalty in the 2nd half, and supposedly won it with a fantastic goal.

If Celtic win tomorrow, you can pencil in Hibernian for Europe (I know Celtic haven't clinched the title yet, but it's going to happen.)

That's why we love this game!

FA Cup Semi Final:

0 Millwall (2) - WIGAN 2

That takes care of the Millwall problem.

Now damn it Wigan, get out of the relegation zone!

Looks like Wigan may be in Europe! Only way that won't happen now is if Chelsea win the Cup and somehow collapse to finish sixth in the league

The three Europa League spots from England are

FA Cup winners
Capital One Cup winners
Fifth in the Premier League

Fifth gets Europa League anyway, so if a team wins the cup and finishes 5th, the cup place goes to the runner-up

Fifth gets Europa League anyway, so if a team wins the cup and finishes 5th, the cup place goes to the runner-up

If the 5th placed team win the Cup, then they get the CW-EL-spot and the League-EL-spot goes to the 6th placed team.

If Chelsea win the Europa League and win the FA Cup then the title holder entry won't be used, much the same as the Champions League in that respect

Different semi, same score:

AET4 CELTIC - Dundee United 3

Hibernian will be in Europe.

FA Cup semi final

2 MANCHESTER CITY - Chelsea 1

Superb match. Ba's goal for Chelsea is one of the best goals I've seen in my life.

Wigan will be in Europe. Hope they win the final to avoid having to qualify and hope they avoid relegation.

EDIT: If they don't win the cup they'll have to get past two qualifiers.

Obviously I'd love to see Wigan win the Cup given who they're up against. Would be great if they do get straight into the Group Stage as unless they are very lucky with their draws they may not make it through the qualifiers.

For those that don't know, the FA Cup final will be on 11 May

I don't think there's much hope for Wigan to stay in the Premier League. Their run in is terrible:

Manchester City (2nd) (A)
West Ham (12th) (A)
Tottenham (5th) (H)
West Brom (8th) (A)
Swansea (9th) (H)
Arsenal (3rd) (A)
Aston Villa (17th) (H)

In that case Chelsea will use the TH-spot and the spot they earned with the 5th place (either in the GS or Q4 depending on who wins the FA-cup) will be empty.

That is correct.
If Hibernian win the Cup they start in EL-Q3 and the 2nd and 3rd placed teams in the league start in EL-Q2.
If Celtic win the Cup then the 2nd placed team in the league starts in EL-Q3 and the 3rd placed team and Hibernian start in EL-Q2.

If Fenerbahce finish 2nd in Super Lig and win Turkish Cup, then which EL spot will goto the cup finalist i.e. one of Trabzonspor, Sivasspor and Eskisehirspor? As Fener will be in CL 3rd qualifying round.

@apurvdanke

Because that are the UEFA-rules:

-The Cup winner gets the best EL-spot
-If the Cup winner is qualified for CL, then the losing finalist gets the worst EL-spot (unless they are already qualfied for EL via the league)

Turkey has 3 EL-spots, 1 in Q4, 1 in Q3 and 1 in Q2.

If Eskisehir, Trabzon or Sivas win the Cup they get the Q4 spot, 3rd in the league gets the Q3 spot and 4th in the league gets the Q2 spot.
If Trabzon or Sivas lose the Cup final against Fenerbahçe, then they get the Q2 spot, 3rd in the league gets the Q4 spot and 4th in the league gets the Q3 spot.

DFB-Pokal, semi final:

Bayern München 6-1 VfL Wolfsburg
1-0 Mandzukic 17'
2-0 Robben 35'
2-1 Diego 45'
3-1 Shaqiri 50'
4-1 Gomez 80'
5-1 Gomez 83'
6-1 Gomez 86'

This means that the winner of tomorrow's second semi final (Stuttgart v Freiburg) will definitely play Europa League next season.

Weird Bayern, they won every game this year (except that meaningless Arsenal-rematch). That makes 17 wins and this 1 loss in 18 matches in 2013. Can Barca stop their run ?

Swedish Cup semifinals (on May 1, single match):

Östers IF vs IFK Göteborg
Örgryte from Superettan (2nd highest division) is the lowest-ranked team.

Thanks for explanation. I hope Trabzonspor can make it to the cup final as Fenerbahce are going to be playing minimum in CL Q3 anyway. Sivasspor/Eskisehirspor going to EL will not do any good to Super Lig ranking.

Danish Cup Semifinals have been played, and the semifinalist found. (aggregate in brackets):

Horsens - Randers 2-3 (2-4)
Brøndby - Esbjerg 1-1, 1-3 AET (2-4)

So it will be two teams from Jutland in the finals. Randers and Esbjerg. This is especially good news for Esbjerg, as Randers are heading to Europe through the league as it is atm.

Esbjerg still need to win the final to qualify for EL, since Randers won't qualify for CL as it looks like now.
If Randers win the Cup and finish 3rd or 4th, then the 5th placed team will go into EL, and not Esbjerg.

Just one correction. The first leg of the final in Bosnia and Herzegovina isn't going to be played on 24 April, but rather on 30 April. I think it was planned to be played on 24, but because of Champions League it is been rescheduled and moved to 1 May but Željezničar got the permission to move it once again on 30 April because attendance on 1 May would be probably very low because of the holiday.

This is the 35th consecutive game in the cup competition that Željezničar hasn't lost in. The result is much better for Široki Brijeg who has great chances to win the cup with even an 0-0 on Pecara 15th May. I really hope that Željezničar will play much better that night and win the third consecutive Cup because yesterday the way we played was abysmal.

Austrian Cup Final: Austria Wien v FC Pasching.

Since Austria will play CLQ, Pasching (a 3rd level team) have theoretically qualified for EL. But they're "cooperating" with Red Bull Salzburg who will also play CLQ. I'm not entirely sure about the extent of that cooperation but it seems that they're practically Salzburg's farm team. Apparently, UEFA are already looking at this.

I know there's a rule that two teams of the same owner may not participate in the same competition. Can anyone remember in which case(s) thie rule was applied? While Salzburg and Pasching wouldn't start in the same competition, it's still possible that they might both end up in ELQ4.

I only remember the 2nd teams in german football, wich seldomly managed to qualify via the german cup. One year is was a 2nd team reaching the final, and being qualyfied for Europe (because the opponent played CL), but that year the first team missed a direct entry to europe via the german 'Bundesliga'. But the next year thy sent theit first team into UEFA Cup, and Germany changed thier cup rules: No 2nd team are allowed in the german cup anymore.
SpVgg Unterhaching (near Munich) was a farm team for Bayern Munich. They had a long-term interaction agreement to give young Bayern Players Match experience in a professional team. Just before Unterhaching made their entry to the 1st Bundesliga that contract was dismissed in order not to endanger the 'Bundesliga' License for Unterhaching. After Haching went back down to 2nd Bundesliag that contract was not rennewed. Meanwhile they play in 3rd Bundesliga.

I just wonder, what UEFA will say about a possible Entry to Europe for "RasenBallsport Leipzig". ('Lawn ball sports Leipzig' - company Names are forbidden in german Soccer - Bayer Lverkusen is an exeption) They are about to enter 3rd Bundesliag and may easily qualify for the german cup which could lad into Europa League. It is no secret that they are a part of Red Bull. RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig even have one and the same sports director.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Cup Final - second leg

Široki Brijeg 1-1 (agg. 2-2; pen. 5-4) Željezničar

So Željezničar was unable to defend their double this season. The game did offer an interesting match, with a lot of chances and one great goal by Šaban Pehilj in 90th minute of the game when Željezničar leveled the result and brought the penalties. This is the second cup title for Široki Brijeg and they will start from the second qualifying round of Europe League, while Sarajevo as second placed team on the league table will start from the first qualifying round of Europe League; Željezničar as already known starts at the second qualifying round of Champions League.

As we lost only on penalties, Željezničar didn't lose 36 matches in row in the cup competition; the last defeat was in September 2008.

You have some mistakes. We played 4 cup finals since the record started (it started in September 2009), winning two and losing two. In 2010 we lost because of away goal rule (3-3 aggregate) against Borac, in 2011 we won 4-0 on aggregate against Čelik, in 2012 we won 1-0 on aggregate against Široki Brijeg and this year we lost on penalites 5-4 (2-2 aggregate) against Široki Brijeg.

To understand what happened on the cup final in Macedonia you need to know this:

Both Shkendija and Teteks are clubs from the City of Tetovo which has both a big population of ethnic Albanians (about 55%) and ethnic Macedonians (about 35%). Shkendija fans are Albanians while Teteks are Macedonians. The game was played in the capital city of Skopje on Philip II Arena but Skopje and Tetovo are only 43 km away so many fans of both team attended the game. At first, on the begin of the game the national anthem of Macedonia was played and it was booed and whistled out by Shkendija fans popularly known as Ballistët and that was the first warning and interruption because before the begin of the game it was strictly said by all officials that after three warnings/interruptions the game will be canceled and the captains of the teams also urged and pleased their fans to allow the game to pass without any nationalistic or similar chanting. Afterwards fans of Teteks known as Vojvodi chanted some nationalistic stuff and raised a banner on which they said "Anytime and anywhere we are ready for Macedonia" directly aimed to Shkendija fans because there are heavy tension in Macedonia between Albanians and Macedonians in Macedonia. In the meantime Ballistët raised a banner where they said "When your ancestors were monkeys, we set Teuta as our queen". The officials interrupted the game and that was the second time. I don't know what happened when the game was the third time interrupted which was the final one, but on some pictures I can see some minor to mild rioting on the stands during the game like pyro, setting some scarfs on fire and chasing and hitting with a belt.

It is still not sure when the game will be replayed but what is almost guaranteed is that it will be played in front of an empty stadium.

Did they drop that 2nd goal in injury time?

Portugal again benefitting huge by the new rule, last season Academica, this season Vitoria. And two teams in the top pot in the CL, could be a big, big season in Europe for Portugal next year with Ferriera guaranteed group stage football of some description as well.

So at least one result went Benfica's way. Bayern's victory in the CL to hand Benfica that place in Pot A.

Unbelievable that they get no silverware this season.

I checked. Not injury time, but they dropped both goals and the lead late, 79th and 81st minutes. Smells like another choke job. I think they choked against Chelsea, utterly impotent in front of goal, choked against Porto, had no intention to do anything but sit in all game, and may well have choked not winning that home game against Estoril to put their league title in jeapordy in the first place. Didn't see that, so have no idea how it played out, and Estoril should have some respect having qualified for Europe, but they still finished 32pts behind Benfica.

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot, but I've heard that Benfica utterly dominated their match against the weakened Barcelona team in the CL, but again were utterly impotent in front of the goal. Sounds like one more choke in a big match.

I hope Manchester City draw Benfica.

That would be interesting. And Milan aren't up to much these days, one of the weaker Pot B sides for me, shouldn't even be here, they dived their way into the CL. I could take that. Benfica/Milan/Manchester City/Copenhagen. That would be nice. Danish team for Manchester City, the Danish destroyers. (KOd three Danish teams in their run in the last ever UEFA Cup.)

There's a good chance Manchester City could rise to Pot B though. Bert has them top of Pot C right now.

in macedonia teteks tetovo won the cup against skendija in penalty. they ended last in the league so they will be another team playing in 2 division and in europe.the other are wigan, hodd ,hapoel ramat gan, vaduz and pashing. Maybe is it a record so many teams playing both second division and europe?

Hmmm, thanks for mentioning those. Will be worth keeping an eye on them. Vaduz don't really count though.

AS Roma 0-1 Lazio.

Another utterly failed season by Roma. It stinks how they've come to this since Spalletti's times.

Austrian media is reporting that UEFA will check if Pasching is allowed to play in europe because Red Bull is by far the biggest sponsor of the club (80% of the budget) and before the final Pasching's coach said, that his future will be decided in Salzburg (at Red Bull). So we will have to wait and see if UEFA thinks that club is heavily influenced by Red Bull.

Would that affect whether or not Red Bull can play in the Champions League?

No, I would only affect Pashing according to article 3 (Integrity of the competition) of the regulations:

3.02 If two or more clubs fail to meet the criteria aimed at ensuring the integrity of the competition, only one of them may be admitted to a UEFA club competition, in accordance with the following criteria (applicable in descending order):
a) the club which qualifies on sporting merit for the more prestigious UEFA club competition (i.e., in descending order: UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League);
b) the club which has the highest priority access by virtue of its performance in its top domestic league championship and as indicated in the 2013/14 access list (Annex Ia);
c) the club which has the best club coefficient ranking as established in accordance with paragraph 9.03.
Clubs that are not admitted are replaced in accordance with paragraph 2.14.

And to be complete here is article 3.01 that defines the criteria:

3.01 To ensure the integrity of the UEFA club competitions, the following criteria apply:

a) no club participating in a UEFA club competition may, either directly or indirectly:
i) hold or deal in the securities or shares of any other club participating in a UEFA club competition,
ii) be a member of any other club participating in a UEFA club competition,
iii) be involved in any capacity whatsoever in the management, administration and/or sporting performance of any other club participating in a UEFA club competition, or
iv) have any power whatsoever in the management, administration and/or sporting performance of any other club participating in a UEFA club competition;

b) no one may simultaneously be involved, either directly or indirectly, in any capacity whatsoever in the management, administration and/or sporting performance of more than one club participating in a UEFA club competition;

c) no individual or legal entity may have control or influence over more than one club participating in a UEFA club competition, such control or influence being defined in this context as:
i) holding a majority of the shareholders' voting rights;
ii) having the right to appoint or remove a majority of the members of the administrative, management or supervisory body of the club;
iii) being a shareholder and alone controlling a majority of the shareholders' voting rights pursuant to an agreement entered into with other shareholders of the club; or
iv) being able to exercise by any means a decisive influence in the decision-making of the club.

Such interesting story. Isn't this case similar to Excelsior and their association with Feyenoord (a year ago Excelsior was being tipped for Eredivisie's FP spot)? Or the involvement between Pasching and RB Salzburg goes a lot deeper?

@mspm89

Excelsior and Feyenoord don't have the same owner or main sponsor.
They just work together in the youth department.

DFB-Pokal Final, tonight at 20:00 CET in Berlin:
Bayern München v VfB Stuttgart

Bayern can wrap up the treble which no German club has ever achieved yet. Apparently, the DFB has arranged the final on a date that is blocked by FIFA, so Dante and Luiz Gustavo had to leave Bayern to join the Brazilian national team.

The match will be live on ARD (Das Erste), free-to-air on Astra 19.2°E - and on pay-tv across Europe.

Yes, it's all very confusing because Spain is having an entire matchday today. But the Brazilian federation was adamant that Dante & Gustavo had to arrive by 16:00 local time (21:00 CET) today. On the other hand, Neymar will be flying to Barcelona for his medical tomorrow...

Yes but Brazil is preparing for the Confed Cup, and it's a little strange that they let one of their players fly to Spain and back...

Anyway:
1-0 Müller 36' (pen)

Debatable penalty but the ref didn't award a much clearer one a few minutes before.

Very entertaining game, by the way. Stuttgart are strong, and the Bayern players are willing to take a lot of risks (might be a little boisterous after the CL win).
