TH Sport at UEL

And uefa does not always choose to most logical one But indeed you solved it correctly, though I am still not sure I understood your reasoning. Especially the part of why the number of promotion spots is 2 from Q3(this one I get), 2 from Q2 and 4 from Q1.

Contrary to the common belief of the Forum, I don't find uefa illogical. I don't want to discuss what is logical or not. Logic is relative. One logical thing to memay not be logical to you.

One thing more important to me is that "uefa is consistent". That means they are impartial to any FA's or clubs. When we see some decision against our own logic, we usually cry foul very quickly. We shouldn't criticize with our own logic. We should criticize if uefa is consistent or not.

Promoting 2 and 4 clubs were just simple arithmetics.
There must be 48 clubs at Group stage.
1 TH + 10 UCL + 37 from PO round
If you subtract TH from this equation and not allowed to play with the UCL number, all you have to do is to increase PO qualifiers by 1.
If you add 1 more tie to PO round, You don't have any other choice than adding two more clubs to PO round.

Now, if you think these two as any two clubs or top club and its opponent this can be handled as breaking one tie of the lower level.

But uefa takes the top club and the next best club. That is, they break two different ties.
When the chain effect goes to Q1 and break 2 ties, two other clubs are left without any opponents there. Therefore, UEFA promotes two more - alltogether 4 clubs at the lowest level.
