| Hello guys I've got quite a strange question to ask.
Omonoia Nicosia will play the second leg of the UEFA CUP R1 against Man City on the 2nd October at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia. On the previous day,1st October, Anorthosis Famagusta play Panathinaikos at the same stadium.
I was just wondering whether there is a possibity of reversing the Home/away fixtures of Omonoia, as consequence of the UEFA regulation which stipulates that an away team has the right to train on the pitch that the game will be played on a day before.
Man City will not be able to train at the gsp stadium the day before because of the Anorthosi Famagusta v Panathinaikos fixture.
Even if the fixtures are not reversed, does anyone know whether there are any regulations which would bring the Omonoia v Man City game to be played on Monday or Friday? or any other arrangement |

| You are correct and this was the reason why Uefa change the fixtures and now Omonoia vs Manchsester City will play the first game in Cyprus on 18 September and the 2nd game in Manchester on 2 October. This is unfair for Omonoia since it will be better for us to have the 2nd game home but the fact that only GSP stadium in Cyprus is suitable for champions league games made life difficult for us. Of course just because Cyprus is a "mediteranean" country with all the benefits and disadvantages of our idiocracy the Football Association of Cyprus move the home of the national team from GSP to Anorthosis stadium in Larnaka which is not suitable for champions league but it is for international games such as Cyprus - Italy the world champions which of course will bring profits to Anorthosis which owns the stadium unlike GSP who belongs to the state. |

| Did UEFA reverse the fixture of Omonia? Usually, the clubs negotiate such a reversal. E.g. Ajax received at request from Borac Cacak and agreed yesterday to reverse the fixture. |

| I don't know if it was ordered by UEFA, but the FC København - FK Moskva tie has been reversed so the teams start in Moscow. This is due to the fact that we would otherwise have three matches in greater Copenhagen on the same day and, similarly, three matches in Moscow on the same day. And I don't think UEFA allows three games in the same city on the same day. |

Edited by: maranton at: 04-09-2008, 17:56 | Bert, Omonia had no choice. Uefa could not move the game of Anorthosis on 1 October (wednesday) so Omonia could not play home on Tuesday or Thursday so Uefa moved Omonia's game.
