According to goals.com, Dutch football association (KNVB)announced on Thursday that post-season playoff will be drastically reduced starting from next season.
Champion and runner-up will get two CL spots, third and fourth are guaranteed UEFA cup spots, with last UEFA cup spot to be taken by the winner of the play-off between teams in fifth through eighth places in the league.

Yes, that is correct. The play-offs are reduced, with in principle the numbers 5th-8th playing for the last UEFA-cup spot with the following 2 exceptions:

-Cup winner (or losing finalist) is 1st-5th --> 6th-9th play in the play-offs
-Cup winner (or losing finalist) is 6th-8th --> 5th-9th (exclusing Cup winner/runner-up) play in the play-offs

Play offs will be played in a "best-of-3", with a 3rd match being played if both teams won 1 of the first 2 matches or when the first 2 matches are both a draw.

For now this system will only be used in the 2008/09 season. They will evaluate it next year and then decide if they will keep it for longer or change it again.
