2009 Non Champions Draws

Well, I'm thinking of a real possibility for non champion draws which can be a hard bargain:

Imagine that UEFA wants to make a double draw at once. Then we will have something like this:

4th place 1 - Winner of clash 2 (7-10)
4th place 2 - Winner of clash 3 (9-13)

That means...even If they use seedings for non-champions between 6-15, then each winner will face a top5 team!! I don't know but I am fearing this will actually happen, almost certifying 4 top5 teams!

Of course, I would prefer seeding and 2 draws. That would mean that a team like Benfica or Ajax could cross to group stage without facing any of top5 high seeds.

What do you think UEFA will choose?...

I guess it will be just like now.
If a team in the 2nd qualifing round should be seeded in the 3rd qualifing round, the winner of the 2nd round will be seeded in the 3rd round

Yes - I presume from the dates that the QR3 draw will be done before the Q2 winners are known but this shouldn't affect the seeding in QR3.

Just an advantage (like now) for the unseeded team in QR2 if they win & take the seeded spot of the team they beat.

I hope on no seedings for the champions qualifying rounds neither in the non champions qualifiyng rounds and neither in the champions qualifying rounds.

Maluyaca

You may hope but I don't see any reason why it would happen.

Just for fun I've done my own projections for 2009-10CL (+ UEFA Cup eventually).

Completely "fake" but - to be different to other projections (& ones I've done myself in the past) I've assumed leagues finish in the order of the coefficient list. I've used the 2009 team ranking - because that's the one relevant for the 2009-10 season - though obviously it will change a lot in the next 18 months. I've also used the current 2008 country ranking - which has less changes (but still some important ones) to undergo before the end of this season.

Anyway - the non-Champions qualifying draw.

QR2 - Seeded
PSV
Porto
Panathinaikos
Zenit
Celtic

QR3 - Unseeded
Besiktas
Dinamo Bucharest
Anderlecht
Dinamo Kiev
Slavia Praha

QR3 - Seeded
Manchester United
PSV
Villarreal
Juventus
Schalke

QR3 - Unseeded
Porto
Panathinaikos
Zenit
Auxerre
Celtic

@badgerboy

I don't think it will happen - no seedings - but therefore it was I hope.

So now 5-th place has it's importance - avoiding top 3 non-champions in CLqr3 plus sure spot in UCGS. Until now 4=5=6th place.

Wich makes me change my mind about supporting french teams - in battle with Romania for 5-th place in 2009 ranking (almost equals).

The round has nothing to do with seeding.
If there will be 5 teams in the sraw with more than them, they will not be seeded

Yes - Moro. You are mistaken.

Look at my example. The country seeding is irrelevant - only the team ranking matters.

So in my example PSV would be the seeded team in QR3. If the draw was made before QR2 was finished (which seems probable) the seeded team might be "PSV or Celtic" - exactly the same as "Levski or Tampere" this year. Auxerre would still be unseeded.

though it will save 1 qualification round!

...and hence at worst guarantee at least one team in the UEFA Cup groups (to go with the two in the CL).
