| Bert, what's "number of berths per country"? Every country has its berths? Are some kind of divinity sleeping with our wifes, making little berths everywhere (except in iwan's country, and now I see why he's angry...)? |

| Hi moro,
I think the term berth is related to the number of teams allocated to each country in every Qualifying Round and Group Stage of both eurocups. These berths mean place of start for each country in terms of european competitions for season 07/08. For example Spain has 4 CL spots: 2 start in GS and 2 start in CLQ3, and 3 UC spots all starting in R1. |

| According to my knowledge berth is something like spot or place, and is used in the context of football formats, etc. But perhaps one of the native English speakers of this forum can shed some light. Maybe it's old fashioned? |

| "Berths" is perfectly fine as far as I am aware.
I'd probably use "spots" or "places" but that's only personal preference. Panda's better at language questions than me I think but as far as I know "berths" isn't particularly old-fashioned though you hear it more commonly in the "sleeping berths" context that ignjat already explained. |

| Good one! Number of 'births' would be good, or number of 'berts.'
Well - one would say 'spots' or 'places' is a bit more usual, but neither is so much better than 'berths' that 'berths' is wrong. In fact, it is kind of an individual word to use, so I think Bert(h) should keep it. |

| I also have my list of the seedingd up again, see here.
I only haven't taken the regional grouping in consideration yet. Will look at that later. |

| Been working trough Kassies' Access List and Seedings for coming season, but i noticed a small error (great work of course however)
As highest coefficient of the third IT game, and thus the QR2 match and seeding in UEFA R1, the coefficient of Spains Intertoto entrant, Atletico Madrid is listed (25.3), However, one of Spains opponents is Israel, and their entrant is Maccabi Haifa, with a coefficient of 30.3; which should be the highest for their group of matches. Doesnt make much difference for the lists, apart from the higher coefficient. |

Actually, on that access list....
I assume that the Romanian Champions, had AC Milan finished 1st or 2nd in the Serie A in 06/07 while winning the CL, would have gone straight into the CL group stages in 07/08.
If I'm reading it correctly, Scotland will be in the same posistion this time next year.
i.e. the winners of the Scottish Premier League will want a team already qualified to the CL group stages to win the CL this coming season so they go straight into the groups without needing to qualify from the 3rd round.
Is this correct? |
