Ok, I see. But if I am a Steaua fan what topic can I post? If I'm Romanian, about what country can I post?

The topics are too generally... They must be more specific, about a team, about a group, about a match. This is my oppinion. If I'm not allowed to post a specific topic, that's ok for me. But I think that this forum can be more interesting if topics about a team, group, match etc. will be allowed.

To me (and I think a lot of people) there is no problem about that BUT what happens in practice is that people who take opposite views on the fate of the team, group whatever start to insult one another. Then the standard of debate becomes poor, and no-one gets any further.

At the same time, if someone insults your team / nation / intellegence whatever, it is hard to remain silent.

Moreover, given forum 2 exists, there's no reason why all the topics that run team A v team B or whatever can't go there and make forum 2 rich in the way forum 1 has been.

There are some that even started to dislike Steaua for these reasons.

I agree with Panda to an extent.

But I don't think it's just the arguments generated.

It has to be remembered that this forum is here for a specific purpose - to discuss coefficients and related subjects (formats, draws, seedings etc). We are all (myself included) guilty of introducing the odd topic whose relevance to this, generally very liberally enforced rule, is debatable.

If you have a heading (even with a coefficient connection) like "CL Group E: Steaua's coefficient" - imagine you have 31 more topics - one set up by a fan from each individual team "CL Group A - Chelsea's coefficient" etc. and then maybe a topic for each Group generally, which was also appearing the other day. Anyone coming to the forum for the first time, to learn a bit about coefficients perhaps, would find themselves drowned in lots of irrelevant (or occasionally barely relevant) stuff. Perhaps this would put them off sticking around - which I'm sure Bert is keen to avoid.

Dear Bert,

I fully agree with your decisions of deleting some topics and so keep the purpose of this forum based on coeffecient related stuff. But on the other hand I can imagine the frustration of gluer. He started a topic which had in some way a little connection to coefficients (only specific to Steaua, but it was coefficient related), and you deleted it. While on the other hand a topic which is fully dedicated to how many letters there are in a footballers name, and this topic (named: long and short names for footballers)is still on forum 1. I can't see any link with the coefficients in that topic.

So please keep your eye on misplaced topics but be consistent

Author: executor Date: 31-08-2006, 12:23	Maybe his decision had something to do with the fact that there were TOO MANY topics on Steaua (and Romania). Besides, that topic with players'names was faaaaar more interesting than the one deleted.
