| as a celtic fan looking for a pot 2 place i have been hoping roma and panathaniokos fail to get 4th and 2nd as this would have got celtic in the pot 2 rankings but i am now worried about sevilla as they are only approx 1.2 co-ef points behind celtic in the rankings. they are in with a good chance of getting 4th in la liga - does anyone know how many points they will get if they win tonight or if they lose/draw after 90 mins tonight? |

| The result after extra time counts - win (2 pts), draw (1 pt), lose (0 pts).
So it looks like - unlike next week - Celtic would like an English club to win - or perhaps you'd prefer a Sevilla win on penalties |

I think this is right:
If Seville win, they get the 2 points and rank above Celtic. If Seville lose, they obviously stay below.
But your team co-eff includes 33% of your country's co-eff, which includes points you win yourself.
And Barca are still playing.
We don't need to conside Seville win, because the 2 win points bring them over Celtic anyway.
Seville draw and it goes to penalties.
Seville get the 1 point for the draw.
And the country points goes up by 1 point, so the coeff by 1/7 of a point. (7 Span teams) Seville get 33% of 0.14 ish; not enough to bridge the 0.2 gap there still is with Celtic after the 1 draw point.
Biggest gain for Spanish co-eff is obviously if Barc win. Their 2 win points go into the Spanish total.
Then country points go up by 3, so coeff by 3/7 of a point. Now Seville get 33% of 0.42 ish, or (by coincidence), about 0.14
By my rough calculation, Seville end on 59.9595, but still under Celtic - just.
So doesn't matter what Barca do, Seville must win to end up above Celtic on the ranking |

| Nice work Panda.
I hadn't considered the movement of the country coefficient. |

| thanks guys i did not realise that a win on penalties does not get you any extra points eg ac and l'pool last year would have got a point each -also did not realise it was as clear cut as 2 1 0 i thought co-ef points were more complicated eg. based on the strength of opposition youbeat etc - is there alink that explains all the point workings and rules etc - so based on this a penalty shoot out suits celtic - up steps southgate !!!! ten years on !??! |

| Tonight's final is also important for CSKA Sofia, West Ham and Tottenham. If Boro wins then West Ham and Tottenham will end up in front of CSKA thus ending our hopes to be seeded in UEFA R1. If Boro and Arsenal loose then CSKA will probably get 1 of the last seeded spots and West Ham or Tottenham or both will end unseeded. Go Sevilla, Forza Barca I would say |

| @ panda
So 33% of 3/7 is almost the same as 1/7? Wow! |

| Exact calculation for Sevilla:
Sevilla win, Barcelona win: 2,188 pts --> 61,006 Sevilla win, Barcelona draw: 2,141 pts --> 60,959 Sevilla win, Barcelona lose: 2,094 pts --> 60,912 Sevilla draw, Barcelona win: 1,141 pts --> 59,959 Sevilla draw, Barcelona draw: 1,094 pts --> 59,912 Sevilla draw, Barcelona lose: 1,047 pts --> 59,865 Sevilla lose, Barcelona win: 0,094 pts --> 58,912 Sevilla lose, Barcelona draw: 0,047 pts --> 58,865 Sevilla lose, Barcelona lose: 0,000 pts --> 58,818
So, if Sevilla win they will pass Ajax (60,640) and Celtic (60,023) (and Stuttgart (59,960) but they are not in Europe next year). If they don't win they stay behind both. |
