| I have a question to all who know something about serbian league: Who is now relegated (i read that they are waiting for the referendum in Monte Negro to see who's remaining in the league, although being under the relegation line, some teams can remain in top level, Zemun for example)? When is this referendum? And where will Crvena zvezda and OFK play the final of the cup? What happened to Vozdovac? Thanks in advice. |

| Cup final (Crvena Zvezda - OFK Beograd) will be played on May 10th 18 PM on Partizan stadium.
Next year the league will have 12 teams instead of 16 (Croatian competition format will be implemented). So 7 teams now will be relegated: Zemun, Sartid Smederevo, Habitpharm Javor, Rad, Buduænost Podgorica, Obiliæ and Jedinstvo. Referendum has nothing got to do with it.
As for Vozdovac, they are OK. They do not have certificate for UC and will not take part in it next season. |

| The referendum is scheduled for 21 May. BBC news report here
It suggests on rsssf.com that the result may influence the relegation picture. My guess is that - if Montenegro vote for separation - then their football structures would also immediately separate. So, any Montenegrin teams in the top Serbian League would leave and their places be taken by Serbian teams. So, there would be no promotion from the Crne Gore Liga and the highest placed relegated team would most likely be reprieved. I don't think there are any other Montenegrin teams at the to plevel but I could be wrong. |

Edited by: ignjat63 at: 07-05-2006, 13:21 | In the 90s of the last century a lot of things happening in football in SRJ - SCG had a political background. This referendum is the nice opportunity to see if it is still so.
It was planned however that 2006/2007 season in SCG or in Serbia alone have 12 clubs. Hence 7 relegated teams. In principle this decision should not depend on referendum results. In practice it remains to be seen.
As for Zeta playing in IT it might be awkward if CG becomes a separate country. Because Zeta would then have a chance of collecting coeff points for CG while deserving right to play through SCG competition. I suppose then some Serbian club (Borac Cacak - pronounced Chachak - most probably) would take Zeta's place in IT cup. Though it is highly improbable that Zeta would make it to UEFA cup.
But never underestimate the possibilities of Balcan politics.
EDIT: Of course, wheather CG separates or not will make the difference as to which teams are relegated as badger says, but not in regard to the number of teams in 1st league next season. |

| After the 1990-91 season the Croatian (and Slovenian) clubs left the Yugoslavian league. Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split were still able to play in the European competitions in the following season. I suspect therefore there wouldn't be a problem for Zeta.
Should this not be the case however I think Buducnost Banatski Dvor would be next in line for the Intertoto place.
I say - I think - because the final standings create an interesting question.
Three teams have finished level on points and - I believe - head to head is the first criteria used to split the teams. If you take a mini-league table of all three teams Banatski is comfortably on top -with 9 points, Borac has 5, OFK has 2. BUT - if you look at purely the results between Banatski and Borac it's all square - 3 pts each, same GD etc - so Borac would be ahead on goal difference.
So the question is - which head to head should be counted - as the third team involved in the tie has no interest in the European place (if it exists!).
The same thing could - in theory - happen in Ukraine for the Intertoto spot. I know that Dnipro and Chernomorets were the only teams originally interested but I don't think these things are set in stone. Illichivets have played in Europe before and are level on points with Dnipro. Illichivets wins on head to head but throw in the results of Metalist as well and Dnipro's 6-0 win (away!) gives them the edge on GD. All three teams play at home in the last week.
I've given specific cases but am really asking a general question. |

| Today's papers do not mention at all Buducnost BD as an IT candidate. It's gonna be Zeta or Borac. They also say that Zeta's officials said Zeta is not interested in playing IT. Also, if CG goes Zemun will not be relegated. It seems that in any case the new league will have 12 teams after all. We'll see. |
