Edited by: dinamozagreb at: 25-04-2006, 20:36 | I was rocking my brain for last hour and a half trying to understand why Croatian club Rijeka in his coeff. this year has only 33,3 of national coefficient and not also a point earned in 1.qual.round. Finally i realised that points earned in qual.round don't mean much for clubs.
FA, if one club wins 3 games in Uefa Cup QR those 3 points don't add to their annual coefficient and that club has to wait for football year to be finished so they can get 33 pct of national annual coefficient.
So in theory, if 3 points that that team earned are the only points of nat.assotiation, that team would get only 0,99 (33 pct of 3 points) as his annual coefficient.
I think this rule basically sucks. |

That's why it's so crucial to make it to the regular rounds, where a win for Rijeka would have meant 2.222 (2p for the win and .222p from the country bonus) coefficient points for club ranking. The difference b/w QR and R1 is 22 times in team ranking coefficient points earned for a win in the case of Croatian clubs. Them being unseeded in QR2 this year again it will take a big effort to finally reach R1 and have a real chance to improve their standing. |
