Croatia 1 - 2 Serbia & Montenegro

Denmark 3 - 1 Russia

Holland 2 - 0 Slovenia

Belgium 1 - 3 Ukraine

Portugal 2 - 1 Switzerland

That are the results of today games of playoffs.

I know that Serbia,Denmark,France and Ukraine are qualificated for the Euro, what about other countries?

I think we(Serbs)have a good chance to take the tournement, after falling last years in the finals vs Italy...

Congratulations to SERiMO U-21 team. They are clearly better than Croatian team, who played good only the first half of the first match in Belgrade. Still I can't get rid of the feeling that things would be different if the return match had been played at night in proper stadium in Split or Zagreb. But, once again people in Croatian football federation are proven idiots, so the SERiMO victory is well deserved.

I watched the Denmark - Russia game on stadium last night and it was crazy. Russia took the lead after 81 seconds to bring it all square, but within 15 minutes, Denmark was 2-1 up. Then things settled slightly until midway through the 2nd half when keeper Akinfeev made some kind on offense when the ball was 20 metres away. Penalty Denmark and 3-1. Then things went wrong, very very wrong. The Russian players felt very hard done by by the ref (With no reason as I see it) and decided to stop playing football. This resulted in four (yes 4!) red cards in the final 10 mins. One for taking off his shirt and giving it to the linesman in protest, one for pushing the ref after that initial red card and then two for insane late tackles with no intention whatsoever of getting to the ball. The ref decided to blow the final whistle exactly at 90.00 even though the situations during the end of the game would normally have accumulated to at least 5 mins added time. Maybe he chose to end it there so he didn't have to end the match when the Russians were down to 6 men, which I'm sure they would have been if they had played for only a few more minutes.

btw, Denmark will not bid to host the final tournament.

A German Eurosport commentator said that the final tournament will be held in either Portugal or Italy. Don't know if this information is accurate.

I guess it?s between Portugal and Italy and it?s more likely to be in Portugal with Italy organising it in 2007 in a somehow diferent format. Not sure about this too.

From UEFA's website:

New system
From the 2006/07 edition, a coefficient ranking system will be introduced, taking into account performances in the last two qualifying competitions. In June 2005, UEFA decided to move the final round to odd years to avoid a clash with the UEFA European Championship and World Cup and to help the competition's development.

I read somewhere that France would apply too for the organization of the finals if they were qualified (which was made). A
nd should France be given the organization, this might happen in the Nord-Pas de Calais region (Lille / Lens, maybe some games in Amiens or Sedan too although they don't technically belong to the region).

Thanks Cro_nogomet

nice to hear that. Especially to set a different example than that on the other thread where they quarrel like crazy. And even more especially because it was indeed a penalty and Croatia was damaged there.

And by the way weren't our players a bunch of morons to get yellow and red cards like that in the first match. The amount of stupidity left me speechless. Thank God we were indeed a better team overall.

And let us kick some butt in Germany next year. I think we can both do that if we play our best.

Referee's discutable decisions in the first match damaged us a lot,but we got through thats the most important thing.

Portuguese Federation (FPF) is fighting to host the tournment in the North of Portugal.
After 10 wins out of 10 matches (PORTUGAL) it was quite tough to pass over the Swiss! I think the 8 finalists will play top class football!
