every yearturkish football becoming worse
first anorthosis eliminated trabzon, then tromso eliminated galatasaray. 5 years ago we had uefa cup and super cup
what a shame for us! Fenerbahce is the only team capable to gain some points but 1 team isnt enough.
In 2 or 3 years turkey's ranking will be under 15th place and just 1 team for CL

Russia was 21th. But before Russia was 8th. And what? Turky and Greece will drop down by others. This is because of 7th and 8th place have 6 clubs. But 6 mighty clubs heve only Spain, England, France Italy and Голландия. Надеюсь, все понятно. Извините за английский.

Galatasaray is in a huge crisis. They will start next season with a coefficient of about 19. If they don't perform much better next season, they will be unseeded even in UC R 1 from 2007!!!

Looking at Turkey's ranking year by year, it wasn't until 1997
that Turkish clubs had a really good season. In that
year they had a coefficient of 7.750, helped by Fenerbahce beating Man U at Old Trafford. 1998 was a poor year (5.400) as was 1999 (3.200).

In 2000, of course, Galatasaray won the UC, and though other Turkish teams had a bad season, the coefficient was 7.750. Same again
in 2001, with Galatasaray having a good run in the CL. Another good run for Galatasaray in 2002, but the coeff dropped to 5.625. Things got worse in 2003 (4.666) but improved again in 2004 (6.500), then dropping to 5.375 in 2005. For 2006 Turkey are sitting in 19th place, with 2 teams left.

Much as Scotland's coefficient is due to a couple of good runs by Celtic, Turkey's depends on a couple of good runs by Galatasaray.

In 2003 Galatasaray managed just 4 points in their CL group (a win v Lokomotiv and a draw v Bruges). They did slightly better in 2004, getting 3rd place and a UC place - but then were well beaten by Villareal. As is well known, they failed to qualify for 2005 and now they are out of Europe for 2006. Fenerbahce have done their best but not quite good enough to keep Turkey in the top 10.

Slightly further up the ranking - looks like Belgium could make 8th place, despite their teams not being exactly brilliant this season. It illustrates the gap between the top few leagues and the rest who are fighting for 8th to 16th places.
