| what is more important to players success or money !!! strange question or do modern day players crave financial rewards over medals. If you are being paid XXX amount but playing every week for your club and having some success is it better to stay or move to a club like chelsea where you may play half the games at most but for XXXXXXXXX amount of money . And also do you think that at the end of their careers which every player says they wish that they could keep playing , do you think that they wished they had played more .
I only ask this after reading all the stories of chelsea and essien and when you consider the size of the squad I cannot for the life of me believe that all these players will be kept happy , for example cuddicini could easily play for Man utd Arsenal or any other number of top euro teams same for gudjohnsen cole duff the list is endless, what a waste of talent , maybe it is time to bring in maximum squad numbers |

| Fotballers might well think in terms of games played and medals won (as long as the money is good), but agents think only of money. I'm sure Scott Parker thought of success when he moved from Charlton to Chelsea, but his opportunity for international selection disappeared. After losing a key part of his career (and in the build up to the 2006 World Cup) he has moved on to Newcastle. There already is a limit on the squad size for Europe, and any player failing to make the cut is likely to want to move on. Leading clubs are already loaning quite good players out for a whole season so that they can get a reasonable level of appearances (and starts) rather than a handful of bench selections and perhaps 90 minutes of action over a season. |

| Can't let that one past! Bolton ARE in Europe (UEFA Cup) this season... One of Allardyce's skills has been to sign good good players who had been cast aside by their previous clubs. It started with Djorkaeff and Bobic, but in the current squad there are Okocha, Campo, Diouf, Speed, etc. The club has been transformed over 4 years but lives within a tight budget. |

| There are some old players who go to Qatar or Kuweit or other country where they gain a lot of money but the competition is very weak.(Eg. Effenberg) |

But can you blame clubs like Chelsea , if you can afford the best , you buy it. If a man can afford the biggest house and expensive car then he has it, let's face it many people have things they can't afford that is where the trouble lies. When i played football i chose to play regulary at a lower level to play more games , but then i wasn't earning £75k a year. Regarding Shaun Wright-Phillips he could play 50 games a year at Man city , yet at Chelsea he will possibly only play 20 or so yet he will still win medals , so at the end of his career he will be financially made and have medals plus as in the case of Joe Cole, Michael Owen and Phillip Neville, Sven Goran Eriksson has proved you don't need to be a 1st team regular at club level to play internationally. If squad limitations came into force do you think that would bother Chelsea as they would have a smaller squad of Internationals & it would make Mourinhos job easier not having to keep so many players happy, all it would do would be make the clubs with less money suffer. Let's face it rightly or wrongly money rules and it was money that made Uefa create the CL which we all discuss on this forum. |

| And what do the players after they have success?? They got some money, but don't play at their club anymore:
Depends on the player!! I can give you 2 Dutch examples: 1. Cocu. After his profitable career he kept on playing, but for a bit less for PSV 2. Davids. This one decided not to return to Holland, as they wouldn't pay him enough. He went to Tottenham
It all depends on the player. one goes for the money, another for the fun of playing. I must admit I am more liking the second one, though I can not blame the first. Who wouldn't like to earn a Million a month (a year would suffice for me too!!) |
