| i think the winning of Azeri team isn't a surprise that Azeri football made a big rush especially for last 3-4 years. The precedent year, Azeri champion had the chance of eliminating uefa cup winner CSKA Moscow but was eliminated because of incredible goal positions missed by Gurbanov. So pay attention to the Azeri teams participating to the european cups, they will continue to make big surprises if we must consider it really as a'surprises'! |

And, flob, of coarse you mean a Luxemburg away result. I'm not absolutely sure but I think Luxemburg (and Dutch) teams were involved in the all-time top European Cup results.
highest home result: 1985, UC, R1, Ajax(Ned) - Red Boys Differdange(Lux): 14-0 highest away result: 1973, UC, R1, US Rumelange(Lux) - Feyenoord(Ned): 0-12 |

As we all know it’s always good idea to score in the beginning specially at home Bosnians didn`t do that fall apart in ET as a result Lux kept hope and advance. Congrats it’s good news for them you need this kind of small miracles to keep believing. |

Edited by: flob at: 20-07-2005, 21:06 | martinjit, not quite right, the 1st time since 63/64 in Champions Cup. I did a little research and if I didn't miss anything it's the 6th time a team from Luxembourg survived it's first tie (none survived the 2nd tie), so far:
59/60 CC Jeunesse Esch (Lux) - LKS Lódz (Pol) 5-0 1-2 63/64 CC Haka Valkeakoski (Fin) - Jeunesse Esch (Lux) 4-1 0-4 79/80 CW Reipas Lahti (Fin) - Aris Bonnevoie (Lux) 0-1 0-1 92/93 CW Avenir Beggen (Lux) - B36 Tórshavn (Far) 1-0 1-1 95/96 UC Örebro SK (Swe) - Avenir Beggen (Lux) 0-0 0-3
And yes Bert, I meant an away record for teams from Luxembourg and that I think it is, didn't find an equal or higher result... |

| OKAY FOLKS ! Here I am ! Happy as an F91-Fan, who saw my team lose last wednesday and win today, causeBH-TV1, the bosnian TV_Station fta on Hotbird, gave me the match. Surprising? Yes, the score of course. the fact that we won, a little less. We saw already on last wednesday that there is a chance. there wasn't a big difference between the two teams, and F91 is quite above average luxembourgish level..... Now, the 1-0 for Dudelange was in the added-time of the second period, otherwise, all would hve been over. Now, I think, after that, in the extra-time, with a little luck and a very very strong mind, Dudelange finally got the qualification they deserved. I hope now that we will see interesting games vs austria Wien, where our chances are very small, but this sucess is already huige and I hope there will be others 8for lxembourgish teams) in the next years! Its for us like.....winning the championsleague tonite! Now, I'm away....."I declare this bazar open now" :-) |

Edited by: Toni at: 21-07-2005, 01:44 | Well, the sensations of the CL Q1 were Tirana and Dudelange qualifications. I think I was the only one that predicted Tirana qualification. Though Tirana has done it before: Tirana-Fandouk (Bls) 1:4&3:0, Tirana-Dinamo Tbilisi 0:3&3:0(4:2 on penalty) and now with Nova Gorica. CSKA Sofia had already made all the plans to play Nova Gorica-they better don't be so confident anymore in their plans on who goes through in Q2. Apparently, it doesn't go always as it is planned, does it now? |

please never ever again make a mistake like that one, austria wien is something completely different, the arch enemy of rapid wien. and we hate each other alot -> i always support the enemy of austria wien, in this specific case i don't care about country coefficients...
anyway, i will of course be coming to luxembourg next week, really looking forward to that, probably watching anderlecht - baku on tuesday, heading on to luxembourg on wednesday, and staying for the uefa-cup match against the finns on thursday. great fun. |

Edited by: Nick at: 21-07-2005, 08:07 | Toni, i had a bad feeling for Gorica from the very beginning and i also did some research after the draw for QR1 because my team will play Tirana next week. Gorica is full with young unexperienced players. I guessed they won't manage to play well in front of a huge fanatic crowd in Tirana. I also think albanian soccer is not as bad as their ranking suggests. I expect some interesting matches with my CSKA next week If Tirana wants to do something they must win the first leg with at least 2 goals difference. I don't think it's possible but who knows Anyway this match will be a very different story. CSKA is full of foreign players who play for their respective national teams (7 players) and is used to play derbys and european matches in front of fanatic crowds so stadium atmosphere won't mean that much.
Toni, see you in Tirana next week We are coming in numbers |

Edited by: porto-1978 at: 21-07-2005, 12:00 | Bert, i think that is not the real record, at least about the home win. In 1963-64 CWC 1st round: Sporting Clube Portugal 16 - 1 APOEL (In agregate it finished 18 - 1) By the way SCP won the cup after eleminating ManUtd. (4-1 to the english in Old Traffor and 5-0 for Sporting in Alvalade), Lyon and winning to MTK on the final (played twice, after a draw)
Great result for Luxemburg clubs! Congratulations. But Kairat Almaty couldn?t resist...
In CLQR2 the most balanced ties seems to be Debrecen - Hajduk, Valerenga - Haka Valkeakoski and maybe Malmo - Maccabi Haifa and Dnamo Tblissi - Brondby... |

| Debrecen - Hajduk, well, yesterday Hajduk litterally trashed NK Osijek 6:0, while Debrecen won Super-cup beating Sopron 3:0. After I showed some concerns about Hajduk's strenght, I figured they might be stronger than we expected. Debrecen will have hard time on us muahahahahaha :D
As for others, I believe Tirana - CSKA Sofia to be evenly tided matches, as Malmo - Maccabi Haifa. |

| Yes, it's Rapid, not Austia, my mistake....
I do not think, the qualification of Dudelange is a sensaton. Sjrinski is not Chelsea, Barca or Lyon, ....and following the Dudelange-team from it's start (in 1991 by fusion of Stade,Alliance and Union Sportive Dudelange), they'll got stronger from year to year. it was justa question of time when they'll first will pass a tour in Championsleague.
Now, Rapid Wien is favorite, but that doesnt mean, Dudelange has no chance..... |

| Sexxes, Yes, there was a round before. Sporting eleminated Bologna on it. But i saw that in Uefa web site. There, they call to that round "preliminary round" and "first round" to the round where SCP and APOEL met. That?s why i call it 1st Round.
