Mover of the year

The top teams that made the biggest jump in the Teamranking until today:
1. 96 places: Austria Wien from 196 to 100
2. 94 places: AZ Alkmaar from 179 to 85
3. 93 places: CSKA Moskou from 202 to 108
4. 71 places: Steaua Boekarest from 189 to 116
5. 68 places: Zenit St Petersburg from 202 to 131

Last on this list is, with dropping 28 places:
289: FCKopenhavn from 119 to 142

Ofcourse this all just based on places, not based on coefficients and also absolut changes, not relative, as moving from 110 to 100 is something completely different from 20 to 10.

As probably the only FC København fan in here, I would like to express my pride of the excellent position we have manged this year. Next year we will try to improve our position even more even though it won't be easy to overcome the impressive 0-5 against Gorica. Perhaps we will have to play our secret trump card and miss qualification altogether.

Finally, I would like to know if this extraordinary achievement comes with some sort of prize. In that case, I will be happy to accept it.

Just for the record: Tonight we made excellent practice for the UEFA games next year by losing 1-0 away at Malmö in the Royal League. Of course that is no way near 0-5 to Gorica, but we have all spring season to improve our performance.

Slightly ironic regards
Mikael

So, before 2 leg Quaters
1. 120 places: CSKA Moskou from 202 to 82

3. 110 places: Austria Wien from 196 to 86

After 2nd leg quarters:
1. CSKA    up 122 202 ->  80 (+20.805 pts.)
2. AZ up 116 179 -> 63 (+25.740 pts.)
3. Austria up 115 197 -> 82 (+19.516 pts.)
4. Steaua up 75 189 -> 112 (+11.815 pts.)
5. Zenit up 69 202 -> 130 (+10.805 pts.)

287. Brondby, Teplice, Legia Warsaw all down 29 places

Another intersting list is how much points team got this year compared to all its points collected in the last 5 years. Strangely(?) enough we see the same teams appearing:
1. CSKA collected 74.4 % of its points this year
2. AZ collected 73.7 %
3. Austria collected 71.7 %
4. Dinamo Tiblisi 71.4 %
5. Hafnarfjardar 70.4 %

Ricardo,

to evaluate the best mover of the year you could apply the regulation adopted in FIFA World Ranking.

It's almost simply: you multiply the final coefficient of the previous year with the increment of coefficient of this year and you get a number that is comparable for all teams (strong ones who have difficulty to increase their points and wake ones who have more chance to increase their low coefficient).

Try...

Bye

Actually FIFA ranking says "Points at the end of a year" * "Points won in that year"
So I tried, but I guess the points are not as equally distributed as with FIFA.
results were:
1 AC Milan
2 Liverpool
3 Real Madrid
4 Inter
5 Juve

AZ (& CSKA and Austria) has shown that 1 good year can bring you quite far up the ranking. Chelsea & Newcastle show that 2 good years brings you up in the top 20.

I have also tried this in comparison with last years team ranking(sofar I just did 4 year(00-04) comparison with 5 years (00-05). Now what I did is 99/04 comparing with 00/05.
Results of coefficient changes:
1 AZ           +23.678
2 Liverpool +20.071
3 CSKA + 19.403
4 Sporting Lissabon +18.605
5 Inter +18.424
6 Austria Wien +18.238
7 AC Milan +17.424
8 PSV +16.678
9 Auxerre +16.378
10 Villareal +15.975
..
..
281 Lazio Roma -14.576

286 Valancia -16.025
287 Barcelona -17.025
