| Here is a summary of the group stage pots' advancing teams in UEFA Cup.
1st pot (4): Parma, Feyenoord, Newcastle, Stuttgart
2nd pot (7): Villarreal, Auxerre, Schalke, Sporting, Saragossa, Benfica, Lille
3rd pot (6): Bilbao, Sevilla, Basel, Sochaux, Middlesbrough, Grazer AK
4th pot (5): Partizan, Steaua, Heerenveen, Aachen, Dnepr
5th pot (2): Alkmaar, Austria
Interesting fact: More teams from 4th pot advanced than those of the 2nd pot.
N.B.: No club managed a 100 per cent record in group stage. And: Only one club (Partizan) reached 3rd round by gaining less than 7 points. |

| some number typos, I guess:
more teams from pot 4 than pot 1
and 1 team less than 6 points. (Steaua, 2nd, and Parma, 3rd, had 6 points) |
