| Since there are no Norwegian teams left in UC, I stick to this group . Brügges coach + a striker is Norwegian, and top scorer in Austria Wien and Austrian league is Norwegian.
Brügge and Zaragoza the favorites, and from a neutral view Utrecht third, since they play home against Dnipro and Austria.
Dnipro are the weakest team in that group, Dneprchemp, whatever percentages you may put up. But they play home vs Austria, and I wouldn't be too chocked if Dnipro advanced to 3rd round. |

| I hope that Dnipro will win against Austria and that they advance. By winning against Austria, Poland have slightly better chances to stay at 15th place

| "Brugge - 98%, Zaragoza - 70%, Utrecht - 45%, Dnipro - 35%, Austria - 35% (will enter to 1/16) "
as a amateur statistician, i've got a problem
98% + 70% + 45% +35% + 35% = 283%, where's the other 17%?
For me: Brugge 90% Zaragoza 80% Utrecht 60% Austria Wien 35% Dnipro 35% |

| Dnipro are the surprise package without a doubt, especially considering their indifferent form in Ukraine. However, this squad plays almost a carbon-copy of the way Dynamo did a few years back; the counterattacking style. Given that and the relative weakness of Belgian and Dutch football in Europe this year and it shouldn't be a huge surprise. |

| In predict, that in the game Dnjepr against Austria the group-winner will be decided. I would'nt be too surprised if Dnjepr doesn't win. Austria will then play against Bruegge at home and the last game in Utrecht may not be important anymore. |

| ^ Illichivets held Austria to a draw in earlier qualifiers when played at home. Dnipro play very well at home, it will be extremely difficult for Austria to grab a win. I can't remember when Dnipro lost a home game in Europe...it hasn't been this year or last. |

| Please do as a favour and keep underestimating Austria Vienna as Saragossa did yesterday. Remember we're the Pot 5 team so why should we succeed in this group. By the way congratulations to Dnjepr. I'm looking forward to an exciting game. |

| I really can't believe that Dnipro will lose against Austria. They play extremely good at home. I even wouldn't be so sure if it would be Dynamo or Shakhtar. |

| Little note to Jammon: you wrote:"given the relative weakness of Belgian and Dutch football this year". Can I remind you that there're only 3 countries who didn't lost a team in European competitions this year? Spain, Belgium and Holland!
Buth I admid that in this strange 4 games - 5 teams competition anything can happen. |

| I think it's wrong to generalize "the relative weakness of the Dutch and Belgiums". But indeed some teams have shown disappointing peformances so far, e.g. Ajax, Utrecht, Anderlecht. Moreover, I doubt that Brugge will manage to qualify for the next stage. |

| Actually Netherlands are in 7th and Belgium are in 9th place for 2005, not too bad, and have all their teams still in competition.
There have been some bad results but luckily for them other countries in the "middle ranking" nations such as Scotland, Turkey, Czech Republic and Greece have been having even worse results! |

| Ase, and what about Standard and Heerenveen? I don't think they will get a lot of points in the UC-groupphase. Ofcourse they are already there, what not can be said of some greater 'names', like PAOK, Slavia Praha, Wisla |

| Ricardo you are right As far for PAOK it was a BIG disappointment. Not even one point !!! And they were dreaming for C.L. !!!!
For the Group C i beleive that Dnipro and Brugge will step to the next stage. Austria 51 % Zaragosa 49% Utrecht not even 1 % |

| I still contend that Belgian and Dutch football is weak this year. Just because they have qualified for major competitions does not highlight their strength. All of the Belgian teams have played poorly. Anderlecht are sitting at the bottom of their group in the CL, Brugge are in danger of not even qualifying for the next round of 32, and Standard are in not much of a better position. As for Dutch teams, PSV are the only team that have secured some good wins and some good play. Ajax have looked poor, as well as Utrecht. Alkmaar are the only other squad to have played well.
As for Dnipro, congrats. They are one of the only teams to go through at this point. I highly doubt that any of the other teams will catch them. Exciting day for all of them for sure. |

| Dutch Football weak this year?? We are allready doing better than last two years, all teams are still in competition and the results of this week were not bad.
PSV - draw against Arsenal - not bad and they qualified for the next round
Ajax - okay, they lost their match in Turijn but they will reach the next round of the UEFA-Cup
Feyenoord - didn't play but they have good chances to reach the next round
AZ Alkmaar - one of the surprising teams in Europe (and Holland), have beaten Auxerre and Amica Wronki, you should watch the match against Glasgow Rangers next week!!
Heerenveen - still in the race for the next round, they have beaten Stuttgart this week!!!!!
Utrecht - they are playing very worse, your right about that
Alltogether: One team in the next round of the CL Possibly 4 (!!!) teams in the next round of the UEFA-CUP
How can you say that Dutch Football is weak this year!!!!!!! |

| I think it will be Zaragoza-Dnipro 2:0, 2:1 or 1:0 Austria-Brugge 1:0 or 1:1
If Dnipro won't lose, the first place - 100% I think if Dnipro lose 1:0 or 2:1 Dnipro will have first place to! Austria-Brugge, if Austria will win it goes throw, IMHO! |

| Why do people say Scotland are doing bad this season?
DUNFERMLINE Well, there struggling in relegation area. Lost there best players and manager in the summer. Loss to Harfnarjourdour completly expected, in retrospect.
RANGERS Early l-0 reverse to Maritimo aside, Rangers have improved with wins over Maritimo, Grazer and Amica Wronki (a win's a win). They need one more point to qualify from there section.
HEARTS Took 4 points off Braga to the surprise of many. Qualified for group stage, are in one of the tougher groups, and after loses to Feyernoord and Schalke (no disgrace there) they've beaten Basel in Switzerland. And now, if they beat Ferencvaros at home, they will qualify for the final 32!
CELTIC Early hammerings from Barca, AC and Shakhtar aside, a fortitious win over Shakhtar is followed by an amazing (ie, how the hell did they manage that?) draw in Camp Nou. Now, if they beat Shakhtar's result on Matchday6 they will go through to final 32.
We could have 3 Scottish teams in Europe beyond Christmas for the first time ever. With that potential there, how is this such a bad year for the Scots? |

| Well, I have an objective way of saying that Belgium and Holland aren't doing that bad this year. If you take the results so far, and you compare it to the total number of points over the last 4,5 seasons, you can see that Hooland and Belgium are in front of the countries 7 -> 12. Holland 18.1% - Belgium 17.3% - Turkey 15.8% - Scotland 14.3% - Greece 12.9% - Portugal 10.6% - Czeck 10.3% .
I have to admid that Ukrain has 28.6%. If this is a result of Holland and Belgium doing fine, or the other ones doing worse, I don't know. |

| putzeijs, IMHO comparing the coef points achieved in this year against the previous years is wrong since the changes in formats changed the distribution of points. I am waiting for the end of the group stages to open a topic about it . |
Author: Ricardo
Date: 29-11-2004, 15:50
| Why wait 2 weeks for starting this topic. I agree: points are divided between less teams.
Another way of saying that Dutch and Belgium teams are doing very much OK this year is looking at the ranking for this year only: Holland 7th and Belgium 8th. Above them are the well-known top-5 + Ukraine(5th) |

| Brugge will win in Austria. They only lose 2 times this season and it was in Ukraine against Shakthar Donetsk and Dnipro... They hate Ukraine now. They win in Standard 4-1 and Parma lost over there, Austria is a poor team and Brugge is in a very good spirale now, they can't lose |
