Date: 01-09-2004, 18:01 | OK. You see, I tried MS Query this morning, and I had no idea what it was. Functions very good just hyperlinking all tables on uefa.com to spreadsheets . Then you can just transfer the teams in question to another spreadsheet automatically. And since MS Query is updating itself, you just need to fill in the 48(?) league hyperlinks once. And then put up the formulas for next year, so f.e. sheet "Holland" position A1 goes to sheet CL group stage, and sheet "Holland" pos.A2 goes to sheet CLQ3. Well, you se my point. This is very simple, and there is probably easier ways to solve it combining coefficients as well. But I'm lousy in Visual Basic or other similar programs. And for me it's a point to know - and especially remember - what I'm doing or have done just wondering how you have done it, arti? |

So simply on one sheet I've got links to all 52 leagues on UEFA site, and each one's table starts at multiplication of 25. So using different formulas I'm (or Excel is rather) able to sort them to different competitions, according to country rankings. UEFA site was in this case the only solution, because I didn't find anywhere the site which has all the leagues presented in the same format - and in form of tables which excel understands. I would send this to you but it's pretty large (few excel files connected one to each other - about 13 megs all) and not really "user friendly"... Maybe someday I'll try to make it more understandable. And sell it to some large company for big amount of money That's because it was my ambition to do everything by myself - just based on scores from 5 past seasons of UC and CL. So it's pretty slow also. And guess what is the biggest problem for me - the constant changing of names of the clubs in various leagues. I wonder how bert manages to keep up to date with it. I've given them numbers but one still has to be aware for example that this year chech's 1.FC Synot changed name to 1.FC Slovacko - and change the name behind the number in case it qualifies |

I don't know what is it's name in english, because I've got polish version of excel, but under "Data" in menu there should be something like "import external data" and "new web query" or something (in polish version of windows and office they constantlyu translate "internet" to "web", don't know why). |

Date: 03-09-2004, 10:47 | This are the exact changes from the wrong coefficient for Lithuanian teams. They have 1,759 in stead of 1,265. So Kaunas is seeded in CL QR1, and Drogheda is not. Atlantas and Ekranas are seeded in UEFA-cup QR1, and Stip and Dinamo Minsk aren't. And by the way, I didn't take possible regional seeding in account for UEFA-cup QR's. |

That they are the current CL-title holders means nothing as for this predictions the CL-winner of 2005 matters, and for that I assumed that they will qualify for the CL via their league. |

Obviously at the moment they don't make that much sense(e.g-Aberdeen in Champions league-Ha Ha), but in a month or 2 they will be excellent for seeing how the various races for seedings are coming along. I'm especially interested as I think Anita is, in the race for CL 3rd QR seeded. Keep up the good work. Will you be posting the standings occasionally throughout the season? Regards Ian |
