| There was an article in one of the Scottish papers today regarding the possibility of Scotland getting 6 European places. It quoted Bert in the article. Can't remember the exact wording, but it was along the lines that he was the leading expert on UEFA coefficients.
Anyway, maybe the stardom has gone to his head and he is out spending any fee the paper may have paid him!!! :o) |

| In the few years i've been looking at this site it is the first time i notice that Bert hasn't updated it neither left a warning he won't be able to do it in time.
So, i guess it takes one failure to one really appreciate what has been going so well... I mean: i was looking here for the results of CL3Q and the rest of the stuff. Now, i guess i'll have to go to www.uefa.com And no seedings, rankings, etc... |

| Whiners Just to inform you, Bochum and Aachen are unseeded at the moment in round 1 due to PAOK, Brügge and Rangers. Will probably be like that if not the nine highest seeded teams in UCQR2 are eliminated today: (since they are seeded in round 1 as well).

| To Anita:
I don't think you are right about the chances of Bochum and Aachen being seeded in UEFA Cup Round 1. In Bert's list (Seeding UEFA Cup) they were at the 39th and 40th position after the Intertoto results, but before CLQR3.
Now they dropped to the 41st and 42nd position, due to Tel Aviv and Moscow being replaced by PAOK and Rangers. (You also mentioned Brügge, but they lost against Donezk who were also seeded higher than Bochum and Aachen -> no effect to their positions.)
So only two of the nine highest seeded teams in UCQR2 have to be eliminated. I'm especially hoping that two of the following will miss UCR1: Servette Genève (1-3 away against Újpest), Brøndby IF (0-0 away against Ventspils), Partizan Belgrade (0-0 away against Galati) and Genclerbirligi (1-0 home against Rijeka).
What if e.g. only Servette Genève will be eliminated? Bochum and Aachen would be on 40th resp. 41st position, with the same coefficient. Which of the two will be seeded then? |

| Bochum will be seeded then.
First thing that is looked at is the coefficient of the most recent year, but since neither Bochum and Alemannia have played in Europe last 5 years this gives no conclusion. Next thing is league position (cup winner goes first). Bochum finished 5th and Alemannia (losing!! cup finalist) finished 6th in 2nd division.
If Alemannia would have won the Cup they would have been seeded and Bochum wouldn't be. |

| Yes, Forza, it ought to be like that if there is any consistency in UEFA's system (Haha). E.g. in Scotland, Belgium and Turkey this season the cup spot taken by cup final loser, and turning it around so cup loser had to start in UCQR2 and third place in league in UC1.
And if UEFA should take former participation (before last five years) into consideration, Bochum fill that criteria as well, playing in UC in 1997/98.
And flann, yes, still chances for some changes. If not, Bochum will hardly be the favorite opponent for seeded teams. |

| Finally I'm back. It was a nice holiday. Sorry to let you wait for such a long time. And not providing precise information what was happening. Partly because I hoped to have an opportunity to update the website at my holiday location. Partly because of security reasons.
Anyway the rankings have been updated. Looking forward to a new season of European football. |
