| I and my friends have a problem. I know that a country's number participating teams are determined one season before. But they say just after the season. For example next season(2005-2006) two Turk teams will enter the Champ. League qual. it is certain I say. But they say the number will be decided after 2004-2005 season finishes. Thank you for your answers. And being a fan of Trabzonspor I'm very happy for the big victory at Kiev. Did you see Yattara and Gökdeniz. If you didn't watch them |

| Since Turkey is ranked 10'th on the 2004-ranking you'll have 2 teams in CL next year.
So you are right, and your friends are wrong .
The second placed turkish team in 04/05 will enter in qual-round 2, while the champion will enter qual-round 3 (unless the 2004/05 CL-winner quallifies for the group-stage directly (in whatever national league they play), then the Turkish 04/05 champion will go directly through to the group-stage next year). |

| Your friends are right. It will be decided after this year's calculations are in. However you are right when you say Turkey will have 2 teams in CL. You can say it is most likely certain because it is almost impossible for Turkey either to go up to 6th spot or go down to 16th spot. But it is not certain yet at what stage the teams will start. Let me give you a more concrete and recent example.
This year since Porto won CL porto automatically qualified to the group stage. Then 10th ranked country's(Turkey) champion Fenerbahce were able to qualify for the group stage, which normally 9th ranked country's team goes.
So you got to wait until this year's competitions are completed to know exactly how many teams are going to qualify. |

| No, Bilocan. You are wrong. Last years ranking is used.
From Bert's front-page, under "UEFA Country Ranking"
"To determine the participants in the Champions League and the UEFA Cup the last year ranking is used, because each country should know at the start of the season how many places it disposes."
It's been like this for many years.... I don't know why you think it's different next year. |

| Hi aliihsan
Number of teams in season 2005-06 determined after season 2003-04, meaning Turkey will have one team in CLQR2 and one in CLQR3. But, since Turkey ended on 10th place (again), their domestic champion may go directly into CL, like Fenerbahce did this year. Meaning they will go directly into CL if the CL champion this year is automatically qualified from its countrys league as well. They usually are. |
