| If done some maths on what you might expect of the teams in qualifying from the places 8-12 (Netherlands, Scotland, Belgium, Turkey & Czech Republic):
SK Beveren Bel 2 FC Vaduz Lie Club Brugge Bel 4 Shakhtar Donetsk Ukr Anderlecht Bel 4 Benfica Por
I suppose Beveren wins its two matches (very probable), and Club Brugge & Anderlecht go on to the CL, but don't score their maximum points (1 point each + 3 points for the CL bonus)
Sigma Olomouc Cze 2 Nistru Otachi Mol Slavia Praha Cze 2 Dinamo Tbilisi Geo Sparta Praha Cze 5 Ferencváros Hun Baník Ostrava Cze 0 Bayer Leverkusen Ger
Both UEFA cup-czech teams advance easily, same does Sparta, but Banik fails do do something
PSV Eindhoven Ned 5 Red Star Belgrade Srb
PSV advances easily (ok, that may be too easy, but i'm taking the best for the Netherlands, you'll see why later)
Glasgow Rangers Sco 4 CSKA Moscow Rus
see Club Brugge & Anderlecht
Gençlerbirligi Tur 1 NK Rijeka Cro Trabzonspor Tur 0 Dinamo Kiev Ukr
Genclerbirligi advances, but have a hard time doing this, Trabzonspor loses.
--------- Ok, if you use this,and calculate the points, you get this:RNK COUNTRY 00/01 01/02 02/03 03/04 04/05 TOTAL N/T PC 8 Netherlands 6,083 10,166 6,166 5,416 1,333 29,164 6/6 5p 9 Scotland 5,625 6,625 7,375 7,375 1,750 28,750 4/4 4p 10 Belgium 7,000 5,875 6,875 5,875 3,000 28,625 4/4 10p 11 Czech Rep. 6,000 5,500 6,200 7,375 2,625 27,700 4/4 9p 12 Turkey 7,750 5,625 4,666 6,500 1,375 25,916 4/4 1p PC = points to be collected
In this ranking, Belgium's catching in soon on Scotland & The Netherlands, especially due to their 2x3 points bonus they still have to get IF Brugge & Anderlecht advances. If so, they have most of their teams in the same pot in CL draw (pot 3), so they may fight on equal weapons
P.S. remarkably, all CL-qualifying teams involved, have to play their first game away (Brugge, Trabzonspor, Sparta, Ostrava, Anderlecht, Rangers & PSV.
This could be a nice battle to, provided Anderlecht & Brugge prove their ranking, 3/4 countries are fighting for nr 8, 9 & 10 |
