| Can anyone enlighten me on all those later topics? Seems someone is trying to get info on European Leagues. They are obviously gonna use it for some game, but I see no wrong in that. And if they earn some money on that info delivering it to LMA(?), what's wrong with that?
I understand this "commercial purpose" thing, but as long as this info may be informative for the forums intentions, what's the problem?
If someone asks me if I can bring them info on Estonian football, we can change e-mail-adresses and serve each other. No need to use this forum for that.
And if the guy I serve info on Estonian football to, actually earn money on my info, well, who is suffering? I don't, I serve a lot of newspapers info and is satisfied by doing it, and when they use it.
But anyway, there is no point in using the language that some of you info-searchers are using. That serve noones purpose. At least I am very reluctant chatting with such persons.
Maybe I have got this all wrong ![](include/smilies/s13.gif)

| Hi Anita,
Looks like we differ on this one.
I think my objection - originally - was two-fold.
Firstly, Bert's header for the Forum specifically asks that we do not use this site for 'commercial purposes'. This research clearly is for commercial puproses.
Secondly, the forum exists to support "discussions on the calculation of coefficients and rankings for UEFA European Cup Football. Contributions about related subjects like formats, draws, seedings, etc. are welcome". I do not believe that this research fits in with that at all. True, both are about football, but I think you'll agree that this forum is more precisely defined than just 'football'.
That said, I really have no objection to the earning a living. I really was only objecting because space is such an issue on this forum.
If they'd put a single post saying that they were researching info for LMA, and giving people a link to go to see how to help, then even I wouldn't have objected!
Finally, I can't help contrasting your own measured and intelligent response with the puerile and disruptive tactics of our 'researchers'.
I hope they will learn from your example.

| thx for nice words, dunc, (I am trying to sharpen up myself) and I don't think we differ. Like you say, giving up an e-mail asking for info on leagues must be allowed (even if "commercial), but I feel too that the forum is being kind of overrunned by these researchers and some of their peculiar way of responding.
Well all things must pass, as Jethro Tull sang (the pop-band, not the agronom or whatever), and they will eventually get their "informers". In the meantime we can play with OUR toys ![](include/smilies/s2.gif)

| It's no problem changing nick-name. So the best thing is probably ignoring it. And again, I have no problems with you guys asking info, but do it in a proper and polite way. Thats normally the best recipe for getting positive response. No need to "bring a big stick", as Teddy Roosevelt said.
