| 25% of all European football championships are played on spring - autumn season (Kazakhstan, Faroe Islands, Estonia, Armenia, Ireland, Belarus, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Russia). Leagues of these countries cannot be played by another season. But other leagues can play spring - autumn season. What obstacles for transfer of all Europe into spring - autumn a season exist? Whether you consider necessary to play on a fair season? Without privileges for warmer countries. |

| Ireland choose to play in the summer.
The rest you are right probably. Perhaps these countries have advantages in the early rounds and the Intertoto Cup. |

| But the teams playing autumn-spring have a HUGE advantage against the other teams in december/january/february |

| Countries which play from Spring to Autumn could switch to playing August to June with a winter break. Countries with cold winters like Hungary, Romania take a long winter break. |

| Bullshit,
The important rounds are the qualifying rounds champions league ( seed borissia dortmund ), teams like rosenberg are in big favour to club any club at that moment. They are full in competition. |

| to martinjt: it's totally impossible for the norwegian league to switch to august-june. It's just to cold and to mutch snow
kurt: The reason for why rosenborg never have achieved more than a quarterfinal in champions league is because they are off-league |

I totally agree with you, but in the past club brugge- rosenberg, qualifying round champions league
Rosenborg won , a narrow win.
What do a club want ? quarter-final champions leage ? or simply being IN the champions league ? |

| Denmark play autumn-spring, but we still have a winter break of 3? months and a summer break between seasons of only 5-7 weeks. Norway and Sweden play all through the summer (except for WC and EC) and it would be strange if they finished the tournament one week and started the next championship the next weekend. I think it is preferable to play autumn-spring, but some countries have to consider the weather conditions and the have to play it the other way round.

| I think that it would be most fair to play in territory of all Europe on a Spring - Autumn season. Then all 52 leagues would be in equal position. For example, in Russia the championship comes to an end in the beginning of November and begins in the middle of March. While the European Cups competitions proceed up to half of December and renew in the middle of February. Russian clubs not having game practice and usually lose at February and March stages. And it unfairly and creates privileges to warmer countries. |

| Kurt: Of course the most important for Rosenborg is to get back to the champions league, but they have never won a match after christmas in the champions league. |

| Maybe the only reason Rosenberg qualify for the CL in the first place is that they are fully match fit when the qualifiers are being played. |

| We changed our season (Ireland) last year to spring-->Autumn. To be honest i think its the best decision the football authorities in ireland have ever made. Crowds are bigger, playing surfaces improved, the standard of football has gone up and hopefully there should be some improvement of our clubs performances in europe. No more do i have to endure cold & wet January nights. Watching football in a tee-shirt is so much better. |

| Why do we play soccer in the winter?
The reason is that amateur football players in England usually played cricket as well, so the football season had to fit in around the cricket season.
In England
1.it very rarely gets too hot for football
2.the season includes most of August, which is hotter than June and almost as hot as July
So for England and all other northern European countries, why not play spring-autumn? Rugby League has recently changed over to a summer season with some success. We play the World Cup in summer. Why not? |

| I think that it will be hard to find a schedule which will leave everybody satisfied. While in the north it is hard to play football in Dec-Feb, in the south it is hard to play in Jul-Aug. AFAIK 30+ degrees and 100% humidity are quite normal for this time of year for israel, cyprus, malta, turkey, greece and probably other countries as well. Playing in this conditions is though and might be damaging to the health of the players.
In any case I think that lokomotive can blame only themself for not qualifying to the next round this year. I haven't seen the first game but I was told that Loko was much better then monaco and should have scored more goals. |

| There should no longer be European matches in December and Februar. That's all there is to it.
Than the big disadvantage the teams from the colds countries has becomes a small disadvantage.
It's very simple.
September 3rd round for qualifiation for the CL October, November First round CL
March 2nd round March / April QF April / May SF May F
Then you will only have a problem with the games of the last 32 teams in UEFA Cup, but for teams in the UEFA Cup there are to much games anyway.
The current situation is unacceptable, the 3thrd qual. round is to early in the season anyway and the 2nd round is to early in the season for the teams from cold countries.
I think The Dutch clubs could use a season from the 1st of March untill the last weekend before christmas also. With a 6 week break every summer bacuase of international tournaments and summer holliday of the corwd. Than the players get the rest they need in the winter.
Right know there is to much pressure on the players, most of all in a season after a countries championship. |

| I play hockey in winter, I watch rugby and some football in winter. It's having these sports then which makes the long, dark winter days more bearable. |

| Mark, Lokomotiv was good looking in Moscow, but players almost had no holiday. Only one or two weeks. |
