| They also got secondary title: Olympique des Alpes. I checked and found them in 12th place in Second Divsion.
One off topic issue: I found that in the same league Vaduz FC is participating. That was real surprise for me ! Does Lichtenstein teams are allowed to play in Swiss Legue. Anyone knows when was this introduced? |

| All Liechtenstein clubs play in the swiss league. FC Vaduz just happen to be the highest placed club from Liechtenstein. There are more clubs from Liechtenstein in the lower swiss leagues.
Theoritically if FC Vaduz won the swiss league they would enter the champions league as the swiss entrant. Fc Vaduz just missed out on promotion last season to the top swiss division! |

| As far as I know, FC Vaduz is not allowed to promote to the first division (Super League). |

| i think they are. they were in the play-offs for the top league last season. there is no national league in liechtenstein.
the magazine World Soccer reported on it a few times last year. they never mentioned it as a problem and said it was Vaduz's aim to get promoted. |

| Sion lost last summer its place in swiss second division and relegaded to fifth. Later, took the place back and begun playing on winter.
Liechtenstein has seven teams. All are playing in the swiss league. |

| I believe there is some tension between Swiss clubs & Litchenstein clubs over distribution of European places if Vaduz were to get promotion to the top division *which is quite possible this season. Would it be fair to Swiss clubs if Litchenstein took one of their UEFA Cup spots?
Most of their players aren't from Litchenstein so maybe they are like a mini Monaco. I believe a lot of French clubs are angry with Monaco for a: taking French CL spots & b: giving tax breaks to players. |

| the only difference between Liechstenstein and Monaco is that Monaco is included in the French league, and thus considered as a French club (whereas Liechstentein has its own League and is allowed to have one club in UEFA competitions).
Tax issue is a different one, but a pending one as Monaco has a big advantage compared to the other French teams (all foreign citizens but Frenchmen do not pay income tax if they are residents of Monaco; that also enables Monaco to get for example Morientes, whereas Lyon the richest club in France is not able to pay him the same net salary). On the other side, Moanco has such a good record in training young player (namely players like Thuram, Henry, Trezeguet + all the new ones that are still unknown in Europe but might arise such as Evra or Squilacci). I guess that the current tolerance is just an award to this good youth policy. |

| I don't know if Liechtenstein has its own league or not but the best clubs play in the Swiss league. Liechtenstein's European place comes from Vaduz winning the Liechtenstein Cup every year. I don't see why that should be allowed if Vaduz are also playing in the Swiss League (particularly if they get to the top division). It's not allowed for Cardiff City any more..
There is an English club playing in the Scottish League and they have a chance of promotion to Division One next season. I don't think many people would be happy if they got to the Premier Division and took one of our European places.. |

| Liechtenstein clubs though are not allowed to gain a place in europe by winning the Swiss cup.
i remember a few years ago FC Balzers represented Liechtenstein in europe.
a lot of swiss clubs seem to go out of business. My team played FC Aarau in the inter-toto cup in the '90's but they seem to have gone out of business too |
