Beating a seed

Last night Salzburg, Groclin, & Hajduk all knocked out Top 24 seeds. And Teplice will probably beat Kaiserslautern tonight. But when they go into the draw for the last 48, they get NO reward for this at all! They remain unseeded and will end up playing another strong side..

It's made even worse by the fact that no points are rewarded for getting past a round. So that Salzburg & Udinese scored the same points last night...but if Salzburg lose home & away to Barcelona/Roma (for example) in the next round...they are NO better off than Udinese, despite knocking them out!

Isn't this ridiculous? What other sport behaves like this and reseeds & redraws after every round?

If you perform well enough to defeat a top-half seed you must become a seed in the next round.

Totally right. They should consider a draw not after each round, buth why not one and only as it's done in tennis.
I just don't see any really disadvantage. Or do the BoBo need their monthly lunch?
