Team coefficients 2003/2004

Are the results from the qualifying round of the UEFA Cup included ONLY in counting country coefficient, and are not taken into acount in each team coefficients ?

For example (considering a team eliminated in qualifying round of the UEFA Cup that won the first and lost the second match):
should he get (apart from half of the country coefficient) 1 point for one match won in qualifying round ?

Could anyone remove my doubts ?

The points acquired in qualifying have no direct impact on the team's coefficient, only the country's. But half of the team's country's coefficient is added on to the team's own coefficient so in an indirect way there is still some impact.

I think you'll agree that this explanation is just about as confusing as I could possibly have made it but I hope you understand.

That's right, right?

Yes, I know what you mean.

Achievements in qualifying rounds are included only in counting country coefficient.
Each team gets half of the country coefficient plus his own achievements (excluding qualifying rounds).

Crystal clear, thanks

This system is totally flawed! It it a disgrace and discriminates against teams that don't quality directly for the later rounds. I guess it figures, considering who runs UEFA.

Also, I think it unsound not to award points for draws, and for winning/advancing. Do you think a team that goes 1-0-1 in a tie and loses on GD is the same as a team that splits and advances? Boo!
