Isn't in CSKA a portuguese player? Joao Paulo Brito? All dribbling and no passing?
Or is it in another CSKA?
Well, I think Galatasaray will win if everything goes normally.
Despite Galatasaray isn't the main (only) force in turkish football in Europe, they still are the more experienced and bulgarian football isn't that great anymore (was it ever at club level?)
Galatasaray 60%-CSKA 40%

Yes, Brito play in CSKA Sofia and will play in Istanbul. In our team is young brazilian star Leonardo Lima and South Africa international forward Makdonald Mukansi. He played on Mondial 2002

I think Gala (is this an OK abbreviation) should be favourites but CSKA are an improving team. Should be interesting.

sr_sofisticacao,

yes Brito plays here in Sofia. Could you tell me please what were his former clubs in Portugal. I just know that he played in Portugal's second division, and our coach Mladenov knew him from the time he was coach in Portugal and took Brito with him to CSKA a year ago.

You've given a quite right definition for Brito's play - dribbling too much, and quite often making silly mistakes. In some games he presents so poor play that one could think that CSKA plays with 10 players But in other games he plays great. By the way he scored 8 championship goals for 26 championship games last year. He also scored a very important goal that secured the title in the 24 leg. The result was 1:0 for Levski (3 pts behind CSKA in second place) at their stadium and it was the 60th minute of the second half when Brito made a good dribble on the right and scored a brilliant goal just under the bar for 1:1 and made us champions.

My prediction for the two games is

Galatasaray - CSKA 1:1
CSKA - Galatasaray 2:0

Cattle_ripper:
Brito begun to be known in Belenenses (4th best club in Portugal in ranking). In Belenenses he was regarded as a possible transfer for big clubs because of his high technical skills. But throughout the years everybody saw that he was unable of consistent team play and I remember going to Belenenses stadium (once in a while they go for free tickets) and hearing the crowd applause whe he passed the ball!
Later after that he went from being Belenenses rising star to become not so popular with the supporters and finnaly in 2001/2, he was transfered to my very own Estrela da Amadora that had been in that year relegated to 2nd division.
He played very well in Amadora, but somehow (rather inexplainably, in my opinion) he wasn't a first choice and he went to Bulgary. I liked him, but he really lacked the team play he needed to become a great player.

I will cocider it to be the biggest suprise if CSKA will eliminate Gala, IMO they are realy not on the same scale as far as money and players are concidered.

mark,
i agree with you about money, but our players are not worse than Galata's. i'll give'em a small lesson.

you don't know but CSKA has eliminated in Cup of European Champions TREE TIMES teams that were European Champions the former year. They are Liverpool, Nothingham and Ajax We have tradition on our side in that match.

I really don't know what gonna be the results of the both games(away and home) but I think that CSKA could surprise, but still Galatasaray favourite.

facts about galatasaray:
name: Galatasaray not Galatasarai
abbreviation: GS in Turkey, but European use Gala, that's ok...
nickname: CimBomBom or CimBom

and GS - CSKA is surprisingly 3-0...

To Molosztash:
Can you confirm what Galatasaray means ?

When I was in Istanbul I saw a district called
"Galata" , at the same time many attraction places were ended with "-saray" which I beleive means house, palace or smth like this.

vakho: you are right Galatasaray means "the Galata palace" "saray" means "palace" of course...

Galata is the name of a district in Istanbul, and Galatasaray is the name of a high school, which makes educaiton in French. The football club was founded by its students, although they had another name earlier, they were called Galatasarayans, and the name remained Galatasaray...

Beyoğlu and Kadıköy were the two districts of Istanbul, where English people lived mostly. First, English people played football in both places. Galatasaray was founded in Beyoğlu, and Fenerbahçe was founded in Kadıköy by Turkish people to play against English... Beşiktaş was a Gymnastics Club firstly. It stays in Beşiktaş's name... Beşiktaş JK = Beşiktaş JIMNASTIK Kulübü...

BTW, Fenerbahçe is the name of a district in Kadıköy, the Asian Side, and its name means "lighthouse garden".
and Beşiktaş is a ditrict meaning "craddle-stone".

I searched about the meanings of Galata and found two rumours:

1- It's the place where Celtic people moved in (Damn! I just hoped word "Celtic" wouldn't be included in just this topic)

2- "Galata" means "milkman" in Greek...

Searching information about the high school, found that the school was founded to educate Sultan's sons, then guessed that it became "Palace High School of Galata - Galata Saray Lisesi"... interesting...

Wow!! I found many other things: (in dictionary.com)

gal·a·te·a n.
A durable, often striped cotton fabric used in making clothing.
-----------------------------------------------------
[After the Galatea, a 19th-century English warship (from the fabric's use for children's sailor suits).>

also:

n.
1- Greek Mythology. A maiden who was originally a statue carved by Pygmalion and who was brought to life by Aphrodite in answer to the sculptor's pleas.

2- The satellite of Neptune that is fourth in distance from the planet.

I thought the mythologic meaning, or the warship can have affected the naming of the district...
