in Turkey, the league matches of Real Sociedad, Inter and Blackburn Rovers are being watched carefully. Of course because of Nihat, Tayfun of Sociedad, Emre, Okan of Inter and Tugay, Hakan Sukur of Blackburn Rovers. (By the way, Nihat is the #2 on Liga scorers list, magnificento )

In your countries, is there such a big interest on the players playing abroad, for example, do tv stations broadcast their matches live??...

and the other question is: Do you watch Eurogoals on Eurosport?? I watch it every week..

In Portugal there is a similar interest in those legionnaires...
The sports newspapers have a regular coverage of their performances and ocasionally have interviews with them. The TVs many times have reports on them when they do something worth noticing. Many of their games are on a paid TV channel, but not because of them (I think) but because of the teams they play in. Meaning, they show Real Madrid's games because of the spanish league, not because of Figo (whom I officially declare finnished after yestardays' penalty miss against Juventus).
But for instance, they don't show french league games, despite Pauleta being elected best striker or something like that...

Unfortunately, our 'foreign-based' players seem to play mainly in the English 1st division. After the collapse of ITV digital, we don't get much coverage of their matches. A few players do play in the EPL, but these are few and far between, Kevin Kyles team were relegated (and he still cant get a game) and this seems to be the case with the rest/most of the Scottish players in England.

There are a few young Scots at ManU and Newcastle, but it seems like we've been waiting for years for them to make the step up to the first team. It is very annoying with their situation at ManU, as Ferguson puts great faith in his youth system and most of their current squad have come through the ranks. I think Ferguson can spot talent blindfolded and what gets me annoyed is that if he doesnt rate them, then it is probably the case that they wont make the grade.

Most fans follow the progress of their foreign based players, especially younger players who are the future of their country (which doesnt bode well for Scotland).

Gone are the days of Hansen, Dalglish, Souness, Nicol et al. The last successful export from here (and I hate to admit it) was probably Maurice Johnston or John Collins. Both went to France and had great times with their teams

Here, in Poland, the interest in a foreign team where a Pole plays depends on the class of the player. And since currently there are only two polish players that can be counted as stars (Dudek from Liverpool and Olisadebe from Panathinaikos), only their teams and careers are watched carefully. Though I didn't notice matches of their teams being chosen more often for the coverage (But I don't watch foreign leagues regularly, so I may be mistaken...), there are always mentions of them in the sport news and newspapers.

There is also a bit more focus on Bundesliga, where some Poles play, but generally other players are only remembered if a national team's game is near. And if someone doesn't play in the national team, he is completely forgotten. The best example here is Krzysztof Warzycha, who was a long time star of Panathinaikos, but there was a little, if any, mention of it in Poland. Oh, and the Turkish league, which finally is at least being mentioned (No TV coverage yet. ) since Zdebel and Dabrowski made it into the national team!
