following is the current association coefficients ranking after the weekend's games.
it is taken from an Excel file I prepared. attached to the association's name it's current ranking. What about adding this data into Bert's databsae too ?
Bert, I can send you the excel file if needed.

Author: Tomer Date: 13-10-2002, 12:07	oops, I see that it is not presented very well after pasting it from the excel, but the latest number in each row is the current coefficient. currently England & Russia advanced to be group leaders for 2006 on the expense of Czech & Belgium. Germany will be the host for 2006 so Ireland will still be group leader.

Author: bert.kassies Date: 14-10-2002, 12:03	Thank you Tomer for your offer. But this site deals only with European Cup football. So, everything about the calculation of coefficients and rankings used for the qualification and seeding of teams for the Champions League and the UEFA Cup.

I slightly changed the ranking method. I now rank it according to points that were actually made & are secure and not according to average number of points. This is why France appears in #24 instead of #1 (they have 3 pts. on average). The ranking is based on the method of dividing the total number of points achieved in the 2 latest tournaments (2002,2004) by the total number of games the association will have at the end of the current tournament (and not by the number of games it played so far). Therefore, the ranking is done according to points that were already secured & can only increase & not upon average that can also decrease.
The columns:
1st is the current ranking.
2nd - the ranking if the teams were ranked according to average #pts (e.g. France is 1st there).
3rd - Name of team.
4th - the coefficient normalized (total #pts / #games that team will play all over the 2 tournaments * 16). This is meant to give the feeling how close are the teams. 1 point here is ~1 actual point in game (for some teams 1 point worth 16/18 points only & for France who will only have 1 tournament count 1 point worth 2 points here. It means that France will rapidly climb the ranking on every point they'll achieve).
5th - total number of games the team will have.
6th - how many games left.
7th - total #points achieved so far.
8th - coefficient of the team according to average method.
9th - the coefficient according to points achieved (like the 4th column without multiplying it by 16).

It achieved 38 points & the other teams will need to try to beat this number to pass Portugal. Their normalized coefficient will not change, but the other teams' is able to increase as points will be accumulated...
